Hi forum. After taking Spanish 2A and 3H (A's for both), I am struggling with the Spanish 4AP class. Will it look strange, and even hurt my chances for colleges, if I drop Spanish 4AP for a different language course (Most likely Latin 1H)? Do colleges prefer high school students to take one language throughout the high school year?

Lastly, if I do not take Spanish 4AP and not take the AP test, will that hurt my chances?

Thanks.

I would say stick w/ AP Spanish, for now. Switching to Latin would seem odd on a college AP, but maybe you could take it afterwards. If you’re having trouble in Spanish I would tell you to study more, learn your tenses, read a book in spanish, read websites in Spanish, and pretty much find all the media you can in Spanish and try to read it. And also try to boost your vocabulary and find a good review book.

Oh and not taking the AP exam won’t hurt your chances but It won’t help either. Colleges may think your school has Grade Inflation.
best of luck

Thanks. Anyone else? I might also take Spanish 4 online during the summer (before Senior year) if I take Latin.
