My son received a generous financial aid package from Stevens (about half merit and half Stevens grant). Regarding the Stevens grant, I was wondering if anybody has had the experience of receiving a large Stevens grant as a freshman that is then significantly reduced as a sophomore, junior or senior? Thank you.
They didn’t specify the terms when he got the award? Usually there is a minimum GPA and credit hours required (12).
You could just call and ask them.
They specified the requirements for the merit award. They didn’t specify the requirements to continue the need based grant. When I called, they said you have to have approx. the same level of need in subsequent years. This makes sense. But I was actually asking if Stevens is known for “front-loading” or giving more money to freshmen to lure them to the school, only to decrease the money in subsequent years for no apparent reason. Some schools do this. I have no real reason to believe that Stevens does this. I was just trying to cover all the bases.
Ok I see. I don’t know for sure, but they don’t seem to be the type of place that would do this. They are pretty generous in their aid to all students.
Thanks, rualum.
