Conversation with deans of admissions at UChicago invite

Got this email from UChicago, could be interesting.

You are invited to a conversation with the deans of admissions from Chicago Booth, the College, and the Law School to explore their highly selective admissions processes. We hope you will join us for this chance to learn more about opportunities at UChicago for yourself or your family.

Tuesday, May 19
5 p.m. CDT

The Zoom link will be open exclusively to UChicago alumni, parents, and friends.

Panelists:

Donna Swinford, Associate Dean for Student Recruitment and Admissions, MBA Programs, The University of Chicago Booth School of Business

James G. Nondorf, Vice President for Enrollment and Student Advancement and Dean of College Admissions and Financial Aid

Ann K. Perry, Associate Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid, The University of Chicago Law School

You can also learn more about admissions resources available to you and your family, regardless of where your student is applying.

Cue, I’m jealous because I’ll have to wait a few months until my kid starts and I become a current parent LOL.

In the meantime, are you aware of this: https://college.uchicago.edu/about/deans-parent-and-family-council

How did these invites get issued? Data analytics of course!

Cue, I’m not surprised by this zoom event because its very consistent with Chicago’s attempt to strengthen ties between the College and its professional schools as part of the enhancement of career services. No doubt you’ve read about the recent initiatives to give preferred admissions consideration to Chicago undergrads to Booth and the Law school.

One question you could ask during the webinar: how come the Medical school’s admissions office isn’t part of this?

Zoom - you most likely qualify. Give it a try and contact Nondorf directly if they don’t let you register.

I don’t think that the Booth and Law initiatives are particularly “recent” but you might have more info. there. Part of the problem with this pandemic is that the usual Career Advancement communications, particularly to newer families, have been compromised. I just noticed recently that CA increased their Careers-In program to include the arts, behavioral sciences and computer science. THAT is recent (wasn’t there a few weeks ago). Careers-In now serves 11 different industries which is pretty cool.

I think everyone was invited to consider donating $15k to the College LOL. No need for data analytics there!
