<p>So I just got my ACTs back and did somewhat better than I did on the SATs. With little to no reputation the first time I will be retaking the test. Thing is I heard some schools convert the ACT test to SAT scores and look at that, just the verbal and math. Well I got a 28 composite score (32M, 29R, 26E, 26S), and by the website Convert</a> ACT to SAT - How to Convert SAT Scores to ACT Scores, a 32 in M is a 740, and a 29R is ~640. That's a 1380? Is that how colleges look at the ACT scores, because that is 170 points better than my actual SAT score. Also can someone give me a list of colleges that actually convert the score in this manner? I believe Virginia Tech and USC were two, any others?</p>
<p>No, unfortunately not (or i would have a 1570 because of my 36R and 33M). Use this concordance chart [ACT-SAT</a> Concordance](<a href=“http://www.act.org/aap/concordance/]ACT-SAT”>The ACT Test for Students | ACT) . You got more like a 1260.</p>
<p>1260/1600 or 1880/2400</p>
<p>I see thanks for the help, I was thinking it was too good to be true? Is there a list of schools that use this method?</p>
<p>You are also off on your assumption. Yes, there are some colleges that convert ACT to SAT to compare scores, but you are wrong on what they use. They do use the math ACT to convert to math SAT but it is not reading ACT that is compared to CR SAT, it is the English ACT that they use when converting to comparable CR score.</p>
<p>28 composite ACT corresponds to somewhat 1260-1310 SAT CR + M, more likely about 1290, but depends on college.
32 M corresponds to about 730 SAT M
So, SAT CR would be about 560. Some colleges calculate it that way, that is probably the most accurate one.
Another way to get SAT CR is by ACT English + Reading. Some colleges do that. The disadvantage of that way is SAT CR + SAT M not equals to SAT CR + M
Some colleges convert ACT English to SAT CR, and some ACT Reading to SAT CR, both ways have the problem that SAT CR + SAT M not equals to SAT CR + M
Almost everybody agrees that SAT R + M is concordable with ACT composite, because the correlation between them is 0.92 (high). That is why official concordance tables exist for that.
Also a lot of colleges believe ACT M is concordable with SAT M (correlation is lower, but still high, 0.89). But it is not high enough to have official tables for that.
Correlation between SAT CR and ACT English + ACT Reading is lower, 0.88, that is why no official tables exist for that as well.
Correlation between SAT CR and ACT English is even lower, 0.83
Correlation between SAT CR and ACT Reading is also 0.83.
The borderline for correlation is 0.866 (a lot of researchers believe that). That is why SAT CR vs ACT English correspondence is not concordable as well as SAT CR vs ACT Reading correspondence.
Because ACT M to SAT M correspondence is the highest of other 2 possibilities, it makes more sense to convert ACT M to SAT M, in addition to SAT CR + M by ACT composite, and then calculate SAT CR = (SAT CR + M) - SAT M</p>
