<p>I just wanted to know how they do it? I know they convert it to their 4.0 scale but how do they weigh the weighted classes like Honors/AP? Is there a calculator i can use or is true they add an extra .5 for honors and 1.0 to AP?

<p>It’s different for every college/university so I wouldn’t know what to tell you. Like if you take a religion class, most schools would probably throw it out. They probably weigh/look at certain classes more depending on what major you’re applying to. You could try emailing an admissions director for a particular college you have in mind?</p>
<p>It varies by college, and some colleges will just eyeball your transcript instead of actually calculating a GPA (the University of Michigan, [for</a> example](<a href=“http://www.michigandaily.com/content/u-no-longer-recalculate-gpa-admissions-process]for”>'U' to no longer recalculate GPA in admissions process)). </p>
<p>Keep in mind that it would be unfair for a recalculated GPA to be weighted because some people have more opportunities than others to take advanced classes. Colleges look at your course rigor in the context of what your school offered.</p>
<p>They normally look at and/or calculate unweighted GPA. But, they’ll see on your transcript what you actually took.</p>
