Convincing My Parents To Let Me Apply/Go

Hi Guys! So my parents won't let me apply to Andover next fall aas a ninth grader for tenth grade and I really really really want to go. It's been my dream for like ever and I don't think I would have too much trouble getting in (not to be conceited or anything but I get straight As and am in math club and golf club and I'm nationally rankied in golf and I was the only girl on the Cross Country Team one year and the next one of four, play center D/Sweeper for field hockey, and do track and field). The problem is that they won't let me go if I do get in. Do you guys have any ideas to help me convince them? Thanks!

Ahaha, I had your exact same problem. x]
To get them to let you apply, you should look at their website, see all the benefits of that school vs. your public school, and point out some of their notable alumni.
Don’t be afraid to get cheesy, and say that you have lots of potential, and you need a school that will get you as far as you can yada yada yada.

That’s what I did, and my parents finally let me apply. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Good luck! ^^

I was just going to post about this!

So I’m in 8th grade and really want to go to Exeter, the problem is, there’s no way I will be allowed to go next year. Now I’m trying to align the stars for 10th grade, as I’ve always wanted to go to Exeter (and other B.Ss.) ever since I’ve seen them. It’s not a popular idea by any measure in my family, but I think I’ll be able to gradually get there.

As for Andover, hasn’t the admissions deadline passed?

thanks swimgeek btw I don’t go to public school I go to a very good private day school and that’s the problem they think that it would be harder for me to get into harvard from Andover than the private school I go to, but I don’t like it that much I’ve gone to school with the same people since I was six. Thanks for the advice I hope it helps

i had the same problem. it took months and months of convincing, but my parents finally allowed me to apply. i made power points, word documents, and even wrote them letters trying to convince them. have much knowledge of the school and some real reasons, and most of all don’t give up for anything! good luck!

@ameripen andover’s boarding student admission deadline is February 1st

thanks bender12. I hope that works

@Bender12 Thanks :)

@golfcrewxctrack It’s always about the Harvard acceptance, isn’t it! (; It’s been a dream of mine since I was 8 and I think I’ve watched every online lecture they have! I really don’t know how hard it actually is to get into it, but I’ve spoken to some Yale and Stanford grads and they say it’s not as bad as you think. But what do they know only seeing on side of it? Next year I’m going to the best school in the state, but that’s terribly great, either.

@golfcrewxctrack You might wanna show your parents Andover college matriculation: [Phillips Academy - College Matriculations & School Profile](http://■■■■■■/andoverivyleague)

good luck to you all.

Ya I showed them and they said I had a better chance for golf recruitment in California because I can practice all year round. Also since I’m a triple leagacy for Harvard I think I could still get in from Andover and I could still golf year round. I don’t know if I’ll be able to convince them though I hope so.

wow! they take care of all the snow?

If you are a triple legacy with reasonable stats and a national rank in golf, you will have no problem getting admission to Harvard even if you don’t attend a highly elite prep school.

Ya I know but I really really reallly really really really want to go

Okay so I’m making a powerpoint and I’m thinking it will maybe work. Any suggestions for the powerpoint on why i should go/apply to andover?

Experience?
Diversity?
Academics?
