Cooper Art Hometest!

OK, so I haven't gotten the hometest yet (regular decision), but I'm getting some sketchbooks together and was wondering, How big is the envelope we have to stuff everything into? Would it fit 2 fatty sketchbooks along with some real art and some slides or is that pushing it? I need some dimensions, here, if anyone from previous years knows.

From the website
"All pieces should fit into a 13"x17" envelope; otherwise, include slides."

instructions: at least two of the solutions must incorporate drawing. you may work in black or white color. all work must be completed and submitted in the original medium in which it was produced for the application to be considered. the original work must be submitted for the following six problems. your name, the date, and the number of the problem must be printed on the back. all work must fit into the 12" 16" envelope. work larger than 22" 30"will not be considered. DO NOT MAT

I’m a little concerned with the rule about the limitation of dimensions that exceed 22" 30". It seems to me that rule is only applicable to artwork that resides within the world of squares. What if the artwork is much more sprawling than that. Perhaps a 60" long highly flexible piece that can easily fit within the envelope along with the other pieces. Would this be acceptable?

Also I am planning to send a portfolio book that contains prints of choice work of mine. Are prints acceptable?

Hi Sphexes
you are replying to posts that are a few years old.

I did the ed home test this year and there was no mention of a 22"x30" max (I still have the instructions so I can check). I included an accordion-book sort of thing stretched out quite a bit more when opened all the way (like more than 4 feet), but could also be looked at as a book.

You need to include at least 5 original pieces of art (physically, the originals). I suppose if you are a photographer, you can just include 5 prints, but if you’re a painter/drawer they want the physical, tangible originals.
You are allowed to send max 20 more portfolio pieces as slides, on a flash drive or disc, or as prints.

Also, be sure to check out the facebook page if you have questions. I think it’s Cooper Union Admissions or something. An admissions officer checks it pretty much every day, and she gives very helpful responses.
good luck!
