I'm having this conflict here. For next term (spring) I get to choose between two classes to max out my schedule. I can continue to study Honors Chemistry or I can drop it for an easy art class (possible Beginner Drawing, Printmaking, etc.) The thing is that I'm average at chemistry (averaging a B in this class the entire year, my worse grade by far) and don't really have that much passion for it, it's only bringing down my overall GPA and I can still take AP Physics senior year. By dropping this class and taking up an easy art course, my life would be ALOT easier and I wouldn't have to spend so much time on doing things I don't enjoy. What are your guys opinions?

Do the art as long as you get marked the most rigorous course, and it is very likely you will get a B.

If you’re planning to apply to selective colleges next year I encourage you to think about your schedule from the perspective of whether the courses are part of the core curriculum and whether the course is being taught at a high level of rigor. To choose courses based on the likely grade (good or bade) is not in the spirit of what selective colleges are looking for in a candidate.

All that said, at least in one high school with which I’m familiar there are no easy visual art courses. Getting an A requires considerable effort. You may be surprised that the art teachers at your high school may in fact teach with a similar level of rigor, and grade critically.
