Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship

@collegecrazy2017 cornelius vanderbilt scholarship is literally based on merit alone, not race. if you blame your lack of acceptance on your race then maybe you need to accept yourself before any school does smh

It is not a secret that race is definitely considered in every aspect of admission, scholarships etc in the name of diversity. There is nothing wrong in acknowledging that.

According to Vandy website only 1% of applicants get merit scholarships. So basically 300 students out of the 30,000 who apply are getting merit money. Very long odds.

Of course if you have need based requirements like many of the ivies and other top private schools you will have your need based requirements meant at Vandy without regards to merit money.

Not heard anything yet! Can feel a Rejection 8-|

When do we think the second round of potential acceptances and rejections will come? Do we think that there is a second round or would the people who do not know find out when they get rejected from the school? I have no clue just asking some questions.

@confused6789 - I too have the same thoughts. Is it possible that folks who got rejection about CV have been admitted to Vanderbilt(RD/ED) even though they did not get CV and people with no response rejected .

I doubt that there is a hidden pattern here. If they had all RD decisions done I see no benefit for them waiting the expected 2 more weeks to get the information out there. My guess is all CV offers are people that will be admitted, and all those who do not get CV are still part of the ongoing RD decision process that is not done.

From what Iā€™ve seen from other CV scholars and my experience, I think all CV acceptances went out last Wednesday at 4:49 pm CST. Some people who have already been admitted to Vanderbilt (through MOSAIC) have said that they havenā€™t gotten a rejection email yet, so Iā€™m not sure if theyā€™re doing rejections in batches, but I think acceptances have all gone out. Good luck to all of you!

Just wondering if those who have not heard anything only checked on the Common Application that they were interested in the scholarship, but did not realize that there was a separate application and essays to complete? I saw earlier in the thread where at least one person was in this situation. I know that it is frustrating to not know either way. If they did complete the separate application, then if the email did not go spam, then is it just lost in cyberspace? Or is there truly a second wave that VU will be sending out? My daughter did get her rejection emails for all three scholarships - Ingram, Chancellor, and CV. However, when we saw that some people had received the Peabody Deanā€™s Achievement Award for full tuition, we were wondering if there are other scholarships that she did not know about, but that she could possibly still receive. Is there still hope for something?? So many questions that I have about this whole process.

I did apply separately for all 3 scholarships.Got rejection only for Ingram on Feb 13th.No response for CV and Chancellor. At this point I am wondering if I got rejected from school hence no rejection email for CV/Chancellor

I also donā€™t believe they have multiple rounds of decision making for CV. last year I didnā€™t see anyone getting after March 8th.

that makes literally no sense

I just contacted the Vanderbilt Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. As per the woman I spoke with, all notifications for the CV scholarship have been distributed, both to those who received it and to those who did not. Please check your SPAM folders. Congratulations to everyone who received one!

Iā€™ve checked all emails/folders/portalsā€¦Iā€™m guessing like others have said those of us who havenā€™t heard might not have made it to the first round to CV committee. Oh well, Vandy was my number one and I canā€™t go without scholarship. Congrats to everyone!

I also contacted the Financial Aid office and they said they donā€™t know why but a portion of their rejection emails were never sent. All of the winners have been notified, however. Frustrating that they did not inform everyone or post this on their Twitter account, but at least we know now. Sincere congrats to the winners! Iā€™m glad the acceptance CV emails werenā€™t messed up.

Everyone who has received no notification should contact the Financial Aid Office ASAP. I talked to a woman there and it seems that there might have been a computer glitch. EVERYONE who applied for the scholarship should have been notified by email whether or not they received it, but many people were not. They need to look deeper into the problem, and it is important that they know you didnā€™t receive a notice because they were operating under the assumption that everyone had recieved an email last Wednesday. Regardless of academic school, decision plan, or whether or not you got the scholarship, if you applied for the CV scholarship, you should have recieved an email. If you did not, it is important that you call ASAP.

When I called they didnā€™t even seem willing to check on my Dā€™s status even when I asked them to confirm. I am curious out of those who didnā€™t receive an email how many people applied after the original December 1st deadline ( it was extended to the 15th on the portal). My D applied after Dec 1st. And we are beginning to wonder if this is connected to the glitch at all.

Thanks for the update. I just check all folders (including in-box, spam/junk, deleted, etc.) on both school and personal email for DS. Nothing. Not surprised he didnā€™t receive it. But based on the very few people who posted on here that they got the rejection vs. the number still wondering, Iā€™m guessing a HIGH number of rejects were missed. The portal also does not mention it.

@caspiancat I applied well before and I didnā€™t hear anything either. I didnā€™t even know it was extended

@caspiancat
Are you positive it was only rejection emails that were not sent? When I called they didnā€™t say anything about that.
