NINE. MORE. DAYS. D: It’s so close. I no longer know what to do to keep myself distracted.

8.5 more days!!!
I’m so scared!!! Does anyone know if the CU has released the official number of ED applicants for this year?
Thanks and best luck to all! (=

cdhs34, you DON’T only compete with the people who applied to the same major. you have to get accepted to CALS as a school.

yeah i cant keep going on here lol. This is one of those threads that causes everyone to grow with anxiety cause everybody’s vibed to find out and telling how nervous they are hahahaha ![]()
we learned about it in psychology actually, i think its something quite similar to group polarization

@cdhs34 & ElephantMan - Yes-- you have to be accepted to CALS as a school, but they do take your major into consideration when deciding whether or not to accept you. So yes, you are competing primarily with those in your major, since CALS is such a specialized school.

Your major will determine your essay, and your essay will determine your fit at the school. So in essence, you will be considered based on your major.

Is anyone else planning on sending the results of their Nov SAT to Cornell? I would like to send them and plan on calling them tomorrow (I do not want to seem too neurotic). Do you think they will receive the scores?

I ordered to have mine sent before taking the test. I don’t think it will affect their decision by much though since they’ve most likely already made the decisions

If I submit first-quarter grades now, do you think they will be considered at all?

That is sort of what I thought. When I was at an informational session for CALS, they sort of mentioned a broad quota that needed to be filled for each major.

everlasting- I sent mine last Wednesday, but I do not know if they will get them in time.

@everlastingwish: unless they consider you to be veryyyy borderline because of unimpressive past grades, it probably won’t make a difference…

Eh… I guess with only a bit more than a week left until decisions come out, there isn’t really a point, although my senior yr grades are like 4 points higher than my junior year grades, which is only at like 92.7 - kind of low.

by broad quota, you mean they have a least a vague idea of how many people they want to accept for each major at CALS ED? or would that be more for RD?

I would guess an idea of how many spots they want to total fill for each major for the incoming class. Then again, I don’t really know.

They don’t require you to choose a major until second semester of sophomore year, though. A lot of students end up switching majors by then.

CALS required a major on the application; I have no clue about the other colleges.

the admissions office called and asked my counselor for my current grades yesterday…does this mean anything or do they do this for everyone? is it probably because i’m a REALLY borderline candidate?
CAN’T WAITTTT TILL DEC 9!!

Engineering asks you for your intended major as well but they somewhat expect you to change it after having taken several different classes. There is a very large percentage of people who switch majors. I don’t see why they would use a quota based on your major

does anybody know, maybe from the people who applied ED last year or in years past, how far in advanced we get emailed our pin and password to view our decision?
