Why is this even a question? Go with the school that is cheaper.

Now hold on… what about:
-If his D prefers CAS distribution requirements and “own-college” course/credit requirements to those of CALS?
-If her major may change away from Biology? After all, what percentage of graduating seniors graduate wth the same major they thought about when they entered? What are the secondary fields that may interest her, are those subjects housed in CALS?

True, the actual biology major is shared, but one’s major is only, what 1/3 of one’s total courses? It’s the other 2/3, plus the consequences of a change in major, that is where there may be some difference.

CALS allows students to take some 50+ credits out of college. Plenty of room for art history and computer science.

Then she should transfer. But half price tuition is nothing to sneeze at. For the exact same major with the exact same classes.

1)Transfer to Cornell CAS is not automatic or guaranteed, particularly in the event of poor performance there may be cause for concern.
2) I don’t know but some other courses that may need to be taken, eg chemistry and math sequences, might count within that 50 credit allowance, interested parties should look into this carefully if they care. They should also consider whether there is enough of [ highest] interest within CALS to fill up the excess outside of those 50 credits + major.

Hello friends,

I am a Canadian Resident so I will be applying as an International student. I am applying ED to Cornell engineering :).

Anyone, international here ? What are your guys stats. Are you guys in general all academically smart (high SAT’s and such) students, or are you guys highly involved extracellularly as well. ? list your extracurriculars. (That is definitely something to be proud of, if you guys have a lot of extra curricular.)

Hi guys,

Does Cornell have EC interviews. I am a Canadian resident, so do i have to do an interview with Cornell Alum ? I know MIT recommends me to get an interview with a local MIT Alum here in Canada.

Interviews are required for hotel school applicants (I heard AAP did away with them…can anyone confirm?). For all other applicants: you might be contacted by a Cornell alum if there are any in your area involved with the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network. This is NOT a formal interview. It’s meant to be a chance for you to learn more about Cornell from somebody who actually went there. We do write a short report that will be viewed, but it isn’t likely to have a huge impact on your application (unless you turn out to be a psycho serial killer…or just a terrible person in general).

@dewdrop87 thanks :)

Hi guys,
for the Cornell College of Engineering Supplementary, it asks me “Engineers turn ideas (technical, scientific, mathematical) into reality. Tell us about an engineering idea you have or your interest in engineering. Explain how Cornell Engineering can help you further explore this idea or interest.”

What are some unique things about Cornell Engineering that is different from other universities or something Cornell Engineering is famous for that I can write in my response to the supplementary. i want to write something along the lines of "I want to go to Cornell College of Engineering because … (facts or something unique about the school of engineering.) Any comments ?

LOL Isn’t that something maybe you should research on your own? A quick google search will turn up the shallowest answers on the planet.

is 784 words too long for Cornell College of Engineering Supplementary Essay. Also, anyone want me or others in this thread to look at your essays ? :)

Are you asking to read other applicants’ essays?

^^ i dont know i guess not. I read on other websites where peers within a thread gave each other their essays for grammar corrections and what not. I just offered to help :$

Could someone who’s already in Cornell… such as Chendrix help revise my college essay for ED college of engineering please? thank you!

And would someone like to see my stats posted here to rank my chances of getting in?

I have decided to ED COE
Stats: 98/100 GPA 2370 SAT 35 ACT 760/800/800 subjects but unhooked
Hopefully I will get in.

^^ what do you mean by unhooked ?

and how are your extra curricular ? I bet your like really involved with everything :)

GAH i am stuck on the supplementary college of engineering essay. i cant answer the question probably… WHY CORNELL ? help how do i make my answer to “WHY CORNELL?” a bit more unique. I already talked about their kesler fellows program.

If you’ve visited Cornell, talk about how you felt when you saw it, and what you liked about the campus; what about the overall ‘feel’ made you want to apply?

The thing is I havent visited cornell:(.
