@sargamprakash I believe most people usually send in all their supplemental information around the end of january/beginning of February? I could be very wrong of course. The link they provide to update your application is something you can visit many times, so updating it with projects and awards throughout this period is probably the best option. I did ask when an optimal time would be to send the letter, but as you mentioned, they are on break so I won’t be getting a response until next year
I just got an email from Cornell saying that the deadline for submitting supplementals is the 15th of February.
same. Any ideas on what to put for supplements?
@RUHTRA999 I already uploaded my ‘deferral package’. Nothing groundbreaking; just the usuals like an updated portfolio, a cover letter, and another recommendation.
does your updated portfolio included works from the original portfolio? or just new works?
@RUHTRA999 Just the few new pieces that I have done since Nov 1st.
I’ve done all that I possibly can; not going to do anything else. I think it’s best if I mentally say goodbye to Cornell now…!
@sargamprakash lol don’t worry just patiently wait till Apr and we will see our future paths…
I still haven’t submitted my supplemental materials…
They give us 3 slots. I am kinda having a hard time thinking how to make the most out of the 3 slots.
it has been awhile… did everyone contact Cornell about the weaknesses in the application?
What do letters of continued interest look like? Do you hand write them? E-mail them? Are they just a sentence or two? I ask because the application essays, and applying ED, already tells Cornell it’s your first choice, so it seems redundant.
I have the same questions as @brooklynilene
I know in most cases, people will submit them as supplemental materials. If school doesn’t provide room for supplemental materials, then some people will email them. I don’t know how long it usually is.
However, after deferral, people will apply to and investigate more colleges, and they might find their top choice again, or they will commit to a school that has already accepted them, so I assume the purpose of the letter is to distinguish you from these people (who are not Cornell-bound).
@RUHTRA999 @brooklynilene I simply wrote a one-page-letter which basically explained what I had been up to since November 1st, and why as an international applicant I wanted to study at Cornell in the US and not in my own country (Yes, it was kinda redundant!). It was a pdf, computer-typed file which I uploaded as supplemental information.
Also, don’t worry about the three slots; you can visit the link multiple times and send as many documents as you wish.
P. S. To be honest, waiting for the RD date has been much easier than I had expected it to be! It was much more stressful for me in the ED round. Anyone else feel the same?
@sargamprakash Thanks for your reply. That makes a lot of sense. My daughter drafted a two-page letter and talked about why Cornell was and still is her first choice, despite the disappointment of the ED round.
And I agree, this is easier than ED. But I think that’s because my daughter got into Michigan which she also loves.
@sargamprakash Thank you
I mean, after submitting the supplemental materials, there isn’t much for us to do about Cornell other than waiting patiently for Cornell’s decisions as well as other schools, so it shouldn’t be stressful anyways.
I do feel safer because I also have a school that I would love to attend, if Cornell says no in the end.
How do you guys check if they have received your mid-yr grades? It doesn’t show on the checklist.
Thanks!
Did everyone get another decision reminder email today?
Yes.
Rejected from AAP! But thankfully I got into one of the best colleges here in my country, so not too bummed out.
It was great connecting with you people. You made this whole college application process much more bearable. Congratulations to those who got in and all the best guys!
@sargamprakash I am sorry about that. It has been a long way for both of us.
Fortunately and much to my surprise I was accepted eventually. Feeling nothing but gratefulness and humbleness.
Best wishes to your future.
I applied ED was deferred to regular then was given a GT on Ivy day.
