Cornell AEM - fit or number?

I'm pretty sure everyone on here know how competitve the AEM major at CALS is. However, is it a number thing or a "fit" thing?

Apply and see

Nobody here really knows, but it's probably both

I did apply. I'm just freaking out right now.

btw, I checked all the pages of the ED decisions...and I didn't see ANY AEM acceptance. :(

it's kind of both. you need to have at least a certain amount of numbers to get in, but you definitely need fit too. the fit is there to offset the potential lack of numbers. keep in mind though, for every person who doesn't have the numbers, but has the fit, there's always two others who have the numbers AND the fit. what will distinguish everyone is the amount OF fit/their potential/their goals in life, which you should have written about in that 'why AEM/why cornell?" essay (the supplement).

I know what numbers are, but what is fit?

Fit is how well your interests/background/dreams match the subject at hand. If you live and breathe dancing, and dance in every spare minute of your time, and everything you've ever done has revolved around dancing, and all your friends are dancers, and all you know how to talk about is dancing...then you're a good fit as a dance major.
