Wow this is seriously such good news for the University. It'll be great for all it's stats (granted it has less business students than the other universities so it won't change things a ton...but def will change some). Niiice. I'm really pleasantly suprised!

too bad AEM is a joke AT cornell....

nah, I'm sure no one really views AEM as a "joke major". I mean...look at their post-graduate reports. People just say the AEM workload is lighter than most majors, but wtv.

as far as respect goes here at Cornell, aem is just above the hotelies (at the bottom of the pole) primarily because so many athletes are in the program for some reason...

workload is light, but keep your GPA up and you should land a decent job...

wait...cornell just sent an email to all AEM students, not applicants rightt?

Dear random prefrosh,

AEM is a joke, everyone here knows it. Median grades between an A and A-, you get to do extra credit in every class, and drop tests. If you speak to any AEM major, even they agree.

Thanks, see you at an info session!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD XD XD

Sounds like Brown!!! HaHA.

AEM is not easy nor a joke, it may be easier to get good grades but then again all median grades for Cornell are in the A range.

@tehrahk: is that true?

Yeah, here's a report of all of the median grades. There are barely any C's for courses.

Cornell University Registrar

Starting fall semester this year, they're going to print median grades next to our actual grades on our transcripts.

is that right yousonofatree?

That's definitely motivation to do better when the median grades are printed next to your actual grades. I feel good about that but not until I score lower than the median, haha

haha...yeah. Especially when you get excited because you get an A- in a class you thought you did poorly in....only to find out the median grade was an A....grrrrr....I'll never live that down...haha

quote from the Cornell daily sun

[quote]
The policy “will apply only to classes entering after the effective date.” According to an explanation of the resolution on the Office of the University Registrar’s webpage, the procedure “will be introduced so that each undergraduate class will have a uniform transcript,” and thus, if the procedure goes into effect in the spring of 2008, it will only affect those students who begin their first year in 2008 or later.

i agree with dontcha....its impossible for berkeley to drop THAT much

So not to sound ignorant or anything, but I applied for the CAS at Cornell, can I do AEM or did I have to apply somewhere special? Thanks.

AEM is in CALS, so if you want to switch majors to AEM, you have to do an internal transfer

so you are saying that aem is not respected. glad we applied to arts and sciences. i cannot believe that any school at cornell would be bad or poorly thought of.

^ aw that sux...altho I'll admit I thought they already did that.

I applied to ILR at Cornell, and I know that I can take classes pertaining to AEM but does anyone know which one is harder to get into? After some research I found that AEM had about 200 less kids enrolled than ILR but that doesn't seem right because ILR is more prestigious..?

AEM only has a bad rap b/c people consider it to be one of the easier majors at Cornell....
