I want to ED to one of them, but I cant decide.
My parents want me to apply to Dartmouth, but im worried that Darmouth is harder to get into (sorry if im offending the Cornellians).

Basic Stats:
ACT Comp.-33 (superscore is 35)
Rank-Top 10% (out of 750)
GPA- 4.64 W; 3.9 UW
Not much ECs (president of one club and secretary for 3 clubs)
APs- Bio (5), Psych (5), USH (4), English Lang (4), World History (3)

AEM & Dartmouth are about equally selective.
So I would just apply to the school you like more.

they are both very different programs and different atmospheres…

AEM will be more jocky and competitive…

as an AEM major , i’d say come to aem and survive the hard finance courses. You won’t regret the networking and knowledge you’ll get here.

accmajor, how big are the classes?
the thing i like better about dartmouth is that the class sizes are supposedly smaller.
also my friend that lives at JAM says that AEM is prety much the easiest major there. true?

what major is your friend?

now, if you tell me hotelie, most of humanities in CAS, etc. i’m gonna crack laughing

cornell is big, the intro classes are big, at least business management, marketing , finance, etc. Core stuff. IF you are into business, good luck where you get accepted. If your friend understimate AEM, i’m wonder why we are still in the top 10 undergrad business schools and the amount of people who transfer to aem from other colleges, internal and external transfers.

hahahah no
hes an engineering major
but how big exactly are the intro classes? (when you say that theyre big, i think of Texas’s intro classes)
and accmajor, did you do ED or RD?

The two intro AEM classes I’m taking this semester (Marketing & Financial Accounting) have at least 400 people each.

ilovebarneys, are you fine with the large class sizes?
also did you do ED or RD?

last question for tonight: my dad works as an off-campus faculty for Cornell’s medical school. when i went to visit AEM, the person that reads for my region said that i should at least put that on my app. but will it even help my admission chances?

hahaha sorry i have so many questions!
and thanks everyone for the help!

i guess it will help you, don’t expect to learn a loooot from any large class, but as soon as you get rid of those, the classes are 20 people at most.

i dont mind the large class size in the intro courses at all, since then the profs cant force you to participate in class for the heck of participating.

@joeyperri
I don’t really mind.
The materials in these classes are easy enough so that you can learn just as effectively.
Plus large classes = easier to beat the mean…at least that’s what I’ve experienced so far.

I’m a sophomore transfer, didn’t apply to AEM out of highschool (didn’t even know they have this program).
