Cornell Alumni Phone Call

Today, at around 5:30 PM, a random phone number from my area called me, and I picked up. It ended up being a Cornell alumni from the specific school in Cornell I applied to. I put in an interview request for this school weeks ago but never received an email. It wasn’t an interview but just her asking me if I had any questions and her talking about her experience at Cornell. It lasted only about 20 minutes and was a very pleasant conversation. Would this be considered the alumni interview and will my responses be considered in the admissions process? I did not prepare obviously since it was out of the blue, but I felt like I talked decently. Past threads indicate this a good sign of acceptance, but I find this highly unlikely as I submitted my application only two days ago. Was it because I applied or put in the interview request? Thoughts? Did anyone else get similar calls? I applied to the School of Architecture, Art, and Planning.

in the past that means youre in

Cornell is not doing interviews. They are offering conversations mostly to help answer any questions you may have. No report will be written up. My son had one about a month ago. It was helpful but again won’t have any bearing on the application process.

It means nothing as far as an acceptance. They are only doing informal talks this year. It is odd that you received a call however, as they’re really supposed to contact you via email and set up a time to talk with you and not catch you off guard like that, but it can’t hurt you and they don’t send anything in, or write anything up. All they do is send something in stating whether they made contact or not. Good luck.
