Cornell Architecture Chances

Hi all, I ED’d to Cornell’s Architecture program! Cornell is my #1 school, and I know it is very hard to get in, but I was hoping to get some feedback on my chance to get in!

I have a 3.7 GPA (Unweighted) in one of the hardest schools in my state. I have taken two years of IB SL math, two years of IB HL Physics, one year of IB HL English & one of History, one year of IB SL Film, and one year of AP English. I also have a 30 ACT.

Though these aren’t the best stats, I believe I exceed in extracurriculars, interview, and especially, my portfolio.

I was a Junior Class Officer, and am now the Senior Class President & am in the school’s Associated Student Body.
I have been a mentor for 2 years in a program that pair athletes with special needs children.
I have been the Vice-President for my school’s engineering club for the past three years, and I have 150+ volunteering hours.

My interview was very good and lasted over 2 hours. My interviewer even offered an internship to me next summer in her firm!

My portfolio consists of numerous Arch-related projects from a Cal Poly Arch Workshop, along with photoshop pieces (Yearbook cover), photography, and hand-drawings. Along with all these elements in my portfolio, I believe the portfolio itself displays my creativity and intelligence of Adobe InDesign, as all the pages in my portfolio are designed very nicely.

I believe that what I lack in stats, I make up for in the rest.

I am also applying to:
Cal Poly SLO
University of Illinois - UC
UT Austin
Carnegie Mellon
Rhode Island School of Design

I hear cornell is very heavy on stats. Your sats/GPA might weigh you down, but the architecture school places less emphasis on them than cas or ilrs. What did you write your essays on?

Hi, I wrote my first essay (common app) about a very bad car crash I sustained Junior year, and how this crash made me reprioritize my life and include extracurriculars along with my courseload.

In my second essay, I discussed my discovery & honors in both Graphic Design & Photography, along with the benefits having studied in 7 schools, 4 countries, and three states.

Hey @kgooner , I really want to get into Cal Tech. I play rec soccer and I just got an email from the coach. Should I accept?
