I just got my offer of guaranteed fall 2016 transfer today from Cornell CALS AEM major. Originally I was planning to attend UC Berkeley and study in Haas. Wondering if it’s worth the the cold weather and extra 20k per year to study at Cornell AEM program.
Are you a transfer student?
A little confused by your post.
Sorry for the confusion. I am a rising freshman right now, and have committed to UC Berkeley as a part of class of 2019. But I just got an offer of guaranteed transfer from Cornell hours ago.
Ah I gotcha.
Well, one downside to Berkeley is that you aren’t guaranteed a spot at Haas. It’s very competitive and if you apply to Haas and are denied, you’ll be looking at another major. Haas only takes around 200 continuing students.
While Cornell is more expensive, you are being offered a guaranteed spot in their CALS AEM major.
I’m sure you were already aware of that, but just something to consider. I know Cornell is a great school but I don’t know much about their programs specifically. UCB is obviously a great school as well.
Attend your state school or community college Freshman year to save money, then transfer to Cornell.
Like what somebody mentioned, Haas is very competitive. My friend’s son was a Regents scholar at Berkeley and GPA of about 3.7 but still denied from Haas.
The majority of pre-business folks get rejected from Haas. I recommend going to Cornell if you want to study business since it is GUARANTEED.
I’m a graduate from Haas and of course, would recommend Haas, but for good reason. What kind of industry do you want to go into later on? What career paths?
