"How have your interests and related experiences influenced the major you have selected in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences"

I have noticed that this question does not ask for an explanation as to why CALS fits your individual academic interests but why your interests fit CALS. All of the other school supplements seem to ask the "Why are you applying" question. Would it be off topic to explain my specific interest in the college?

Thanks

I was a little unsure about this question, too, but Cornell CALS is highly interested in students that would “fit.” Based on that alone, I find it best to discuss how your interests, whether it be biology or sociology, mold you into a perfect candidate for CALS. Rather than explaining why you are interested in the college, make them believe they should be interested in you. If you’d like to read my essay for comparison, let me know!

Same, I was kinda confused when I read the question. I went more with the “why are you applying” route because it still shows my interests and experiences.

i’ll be applying to CALS next year, and was wondering if I could read your essay for comparison! I have just been looking around on here, and came across this thread.
