Has anyone been notified that Cornell did not receive final grades? Is obtaining a Cornell Card required?

That Cornell Card sounds like a Visa card in sheep’s clothing. Stay away is my advice. D will NOT be signing up for one.
Also she received no notice re: fianl grade report.

The Cornell Card is like a credit card, there is a separate payment for purchases made on the card. The statement for the card comes with the bursur account info monthly. I believe the limit is a couple of hundred. I just signed up for one for this fall. I have not been asked for my final grade report even though I didn’t give my guidance counselor the form.

Cornell card is pretty useful. No reason not to get one. You can only pay for things on campus anyway.

^ yeah it’s especially helpful at the cornell store when you have to buy textbooks and stuff for class.

Is it technically a credit card? I’m basically wondering if it will help build credit…

the limit I saw on my Ds was $850 I believe.

I think the only real benefit is that you could just have your ID with you and nothing else and that gets you pretty much everything you could ever want on campus. Into your dorm, food on your meal plan, BRBs, and $$ for everything else when needed.

Do any of the places in collegetown accept the cornell card or is it strictly for on campus purchases?

There is nothing wrong with getting Cornell Card. It is useful in the beginning of the year if you want to buy books at the Cornell Store. It is also useful if you are buying something in Cornell but don’t have a credit card. You can just tell the cashier you want everything charged on your card, and you just have to sign the receipt. You’ll get billed monthly through the Bursar’s office. However, there really is no point if you already have a credit card. I do not use it because I don’t want my parents micromanaging my spending every time the bill comes out. I spend most of my money at stores outside of Cornell anyway.

I’m pretty sure it’s strictly on campus.
