Cornell CAS vs Williams College

Bear in mind I'm going to be a liberal arts major, with hopes for a great law school.

I'd go with Williams, esp. if you going to go into liberal arts and if you prefer a smaller school.

Cornell or Williams? I would personally choose Cornell; however, that's just me. If you prefer a smaller setting, then you should go with Williams.

I would go to Williams just because I would want to be a part of a tighter community.

I would go to Cornell.. I am a little biased though because I like the size of Cornell, but when I saw Williams, I noticed it is in the middle of no-where. My friend who was accepted to there and Trinity was told not to go to Williams because people get so bored. In Ithaca, there is always a lot to do, especially compared to the town that Williams is in.

Thanks alot for the advice.

I was also wondering as to the rating Cornell/Williams have when it comes to law schools. Having which degree would be a major plus?

Please respond. I have until May 1 to decide.

THX

Cornell is an amazing Law School feeder school.

But I'm sure Williams is too.

So go to the school that you feel like you fit in at the most.

I think you will fare better at Williams if you wish to go to law school. Cornell is a great school, but the competition is cut-throat, and you will really have to earn those GPAs with hard work. Williams's courseload is also heavy, but its not as competetive as Cornell. Top students at both schools go to the very top law schools in the country. Go visit the colleges.

Cornell undergrads, however, have a large advantage in getting into Cornell Law, which is a top 14 school.

We gotta work hard to dispel all thiis cutthroat nonsense... its total urban legend... and I'm sick of it!

There...I feel better...

Typical pre-law majors at Cornell (History, Govt., Econ, English) are NOT cutthroat... they are every bit of collaborative and nurturing as Williams... think of CAS as a medium sized (4,000 students) LAC in the middle of a research U.

Now...having said that... Williams and Cornell ARE completely differrent because of their size... go visit both and see which one you like better... it'll be easy to FEEL the difference between the two schools... either one offers an excellent chance to get into a tier 1 law school

Wharf

whutz williams??....get used to that question :)

haha golubb is right, though williams is undoubtedly at the top of the small lib arts collges akin to amherst. There are more options at cornell, but if you want the small school pick Will. I say visit both to get a feel of them post acceptance. They both are excellent cornells law acceptance rate is something like 87% versus 57 nationally...
