Cornell Class of 2017 RD Discussion

Hey. I got this in the email:
We are writing to invite you to a special overnight hosting program offered by the College of Human Ecology on Sunday, April 14 - Monday, April 15. Our hosting program offers students opportunities to have dinner in the college with our Counseling and Advising staff and a breakfast with faculty to learn more about academic life, research, and mentorship. You will also be able to participate in classroom visits, meet current students, and all of the other scheduled Cornell Days events. Visit [Diversity Hosting Weekend](http://www.human.cornell.edu/admissions/diversity-hosting.cfm) for more information about the College of Human Ecology’s overnight hosting event and our academic programs.

Space is limited so please be in touch with me through email (bs28@cornell.edu) or phone (607.255.5471) by Friday, March 22 with questions and to inform me of your plans to visit during the April 14th - April 15th event.

All travel arrangements to participate in this program need to be made as soon as possible and must be organized through the Cornell University Diversity hosting website – [Diversity Hosting | Admitted Students](http://www.diversityhosting.admissions.cornell.edu). There are other opportunities to visit campus throughout April, if you cannot get to campus on April 14th.

On behalf of the College of Human Ecology Admissions Staff, I wish you well as you learn more about your options for next year and hope to see you April 14th!

But I was never formally admitted and they do not mention it in the email either. They also ask that I rsvp before the actual decision release date. What do you guys make of this? This isn’t a likely letter right?

Why are people acting as if they either need a likely, or they’re definitely rejected?

OH MY GOD I GOT A LIKELY LETTER OH MY GOD

"Dear Sophia,

I am writing to let you know how much the Cornell Engineering Admissions Committee enjoyed reading your application.* Your academic and personal achievements are outstanding and, although the Ivy League schools won’t notify students of their admission decisions until the end of the month, it may help with your planning to know that you are very likely to be admitted to Cornell.

During the next few weeks, you will narrow your list of possible college choices to the one school you think is best for you.* I hope this advance notice of your likely admission to Cornell will encourage you to learn more about this great institution.

If you have not had the chance to visit our campus, I invite you to do so.* On select days from April 11 to April 22, the University sponsors Cornell Days. This special event is an opportunity for you to meet faculty and students, tour the Engineering Quad and broader Cornell campus, and ask any questions you may have about Cornell and the College of Engineering. More detailed information regarding Cornell Days will be sent with your decision letter.*

In addition to Cornell Days, the College of Engineering is sponsoring the Spring Women in Engineering Program on April 12 & 13.* More information on this exciting program is included with this letter.

Whether you are able to visit through Cornell Days, the Spring Women in Engineering Program, or on your own, we hope this advance notice will offer you more time to coordinate and schedule your visit to campus, and ultimately aid you in deciding your future plans.

If you have any questions about the College of Engineering or Cornell University, please feel free to call our office at:* 607.255.5008 or email at: engr_admissions@cornell.edu.

Once again, congratulations on your many achievements!* I wish you the very best as you complete your senior year, and look forward to the possibility of welcoming you to campus as a future Cornellian!

Sincerely,

Scott M. Campbell
Director, Engineering Admissions

“Diversity Hosting is an annual program for select admitted students. The program is by invitation only. It provides students like you an opportunity to visit Cornell and get a small taste of life as a student here.”

This is what it says on the website. So if you got something from there then you are admitted.

It’s an anxiety thing. “I didn’t get a likely? They don’t absolutely love me?? What did I do wrong???”

First post on the Cornell thread to say that I’ve been accepted. >.>

Is it just female engineers getting letters, or are male engineers getting them too?

Usually female and URMS get them.

So as a male, international engineering applicant, I shouldn’t take not getting one as a terrible sign, right?

nope. You shouldn’t worry.

My daughter just got likely email from COE.

My D just got a likely letter today for College of Life Science :)

college123231,
COE - College of Engineer.

when do ilr decisions come out?

I never got anything from CALS. ):

Got a Likely. Bioengineering at CoE. =D

Are all of you female??

We’re all either female or a URM. I dont think Cornell gives likelies to anyone else.

(Unless they give them to Athletes?)

Daughter, an URM, got email invite today to attend Engineering Diversity weekend, which is for admitted students.

I just got this

I am writing to let you know how much the Cornell Engineering Admissions Committee enjoyed reading your application. Your academic and personal achievements are outstanding and, although the Ivy League schools won’t notify students of their admission decisions until the end of the month, it may help with your planning to know that you are very likely to be admitted to Cornell.

Guess I’m accepted :)

Diversity hosting  I’m so happy right now!
