@pippathomas I would definitely be interested in a group chat, I have so many questions
@avkall okay want to add me on facebook, name is pippa thomas! and anyone else and I’ll make a gc
Wait so now we might be hearing tonight? I thought we would hear next week
I thought that we’d hear back mid April. That’s what it said on the website
@ccollege2020 my guess is that’s right and the admissions representative didn’t read my email stating that I was a transfer option applicant.
I just want to know, this has been such a long, draining process and I’m so tired of waiting. Good news from Cornell is exactly the motivation I need to get through the rest of this semester.
I feel the same way @aihcxx
@vlindo hopefully now that they’re done with the freshmen they’ll focus on us and decisions will come out soon! It’s been a year and a half since I applied (deferred ED) so it feels like they’ve been holding out on me forever!
@aihcxx me too this has been the longest year and a half ever
It really has been, I feel like I’m stuck in limbo waiting for everything to get through, but I couldn’t be more excited
Hello class of 2020. My name is Caleb King, and I was offered the transfer option today through Cornell. If anyone took up this option, I would really appreciate feedback. I am feeling very conflicted on what I want to do.
@Calebdwking Congrats! I know it’s not the acceptance you are looking for but the transfer option is an amazing opportunity. Cornell is my dream school so I immediately took the option. I found that even though I’m having a great freshman year, I believe that Cornell is still the best place for me. The decision to take the option is not binding, so you aren’t required to go if you are accepted. Your decision will really come down to what you feel is the best for you.
Can any ILR ppl tell me what the process was like, requirements, ect? Also, is there a difference between guaranteed transfer and transfer option? thnx
Can you receive this transfer option from the College of the Arts and Sciences?
@fizzyizzy99
The process is like this:
- Got the TO information a few days after Ivy Day
- Decided on what college to attend my first year
- Took the required classes to fulfill the transfer option (economics, two of the distrubution requirements, and English for ILR) and maintained at least a 3.3 GPA with no grade less than a B in any class and with no withdawals or incompletes on my transcript
- Received an email from ILR this past December with a shortened application to fill out, which was due March 15th
- Am now currently waiting to receive my transfer decision.
Also, there is no difference between the transfer option (TO) and being a guaranteed transfer.
thanks!!!
@vlindo - Thank you for the detailed steps. I just have one question.
Did you have to ‘accept’ the Transfer Option at some point BEFORE the application process? If no, then how does ILR at Cornell know that you are a Transfer Option applicant?
@cricketfan yea they ask if you want to accept it i think in the email with the TO information
@vlindo - Sorry to keep pestering you but I am in almost the exact same position as you:
Applied to ILR and wish to specialize in Economics.
I am already completing my senior year of High School at a Community College and will be completing Micro+Macro Economics by the end of this Sprint semester.
I’ll obviously wait for the ILR to contact me with the requirements but I feel that I have already completed most of them.
Do they tailor the requirements based on individual student - depending on the transferable classes that he/she may already have taken or is it a common list that you need to figure out for yourself?
It’s a common list. You’ll receive a contact person at ILR who you can talk to about transferring classes and your specific situation. Since you’re already completing those reqs, they’ll surely be pleased. @cricketfan
