Cornell Class of 2020 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

Wouldn’t that would be in violation of the Ivy agreement? @DAVE437

@vlindo yes. I am 99.99% sure they are releasing on 3/31 at 5pm edt

That’s what I thought @Ksty1098 , I was just wondering about what @DAVE437 heard about decisions being released this Wednesday or Thursday, the 23rd and 24th respectively.

@vlindo idk, I asked my friends about that and they said the Ivy agreement is only for the big three (Harvard, Princeton, and Yale). They have never been wrong about decisions so far. They correctly stated when the decision of Notre Dame, WashU, UChicago, Northwestern… etc. I have reason to believe them. They are not the type to lie. They said it was stated in their likely letter emails that decisions are coming this week.

@DAVE437 I guess we will find out on Thursday if they were right

@Ksty1098 I was hesitant to post it, because even I questioned them, but WashU on the website did say decision are coming out April 1. Decision for WashU, however were posted on March 10, so I think Universities always put the lastest date on their websites. My friends assured me that decision for Cornell are coming out this week.

Would this possible decision release for tomorow or Wednesday for SHA too?

@DAVE437 I got an email from Cornell specifically telling me that my decision will be released on 3/31 at 5pm.

Cornell is definitely part of the ivy league agreement for the common notification date

yeah, if only HYP were part of the ivy agreement, there’s no reason for the rest of the ivies to stick with the 3/31 date, which they are, so it doesn’t really make sense

The diversity email said your admittance packet is in the mail. A letter did arrive a few days later. Perhaps the friends were confused by that.

from the dartmouth website about the common ivy league agreement “On a common date, usually in late March or early April, applicants to the Ivy institutions will be notified of admission decisions and financial aid awards, unless they have been notified earlier under Early Decision Plan or Early Action Plan procedures. (Letters are mailed beginning in February for the Schools of Hotel Administration, and Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell, and beginning in February for the School of Nursing at Penn.)” found from https://admissions.dartmouth.edu/apply/fine-print/common-ivy-league-agreement so they’ll most likely be on 3/31

Another relevant question —sanity check — is, has specifically CORNELL and or ANY OTHER ivy ever released official RD results ahead of their Ivy peers?

Any PRECEDENT?

@liv101 I don’t know, I ask my friends if they were sure, and repeatedly, they will tell me it is coming out this week. They were adamant. They said they got an email telling them decision are coming out this week.

@DAVE437 could you ask them to show you or send you the email?

@DAVE437

The agreement states:

“This is the text of the mutual agreement between the eight Ivy League institutions: Brown University, Columbia College, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, Yale University.”

It applies to all eight colleges within the ivy league.

I also received the diversity LL, but it said nothing about decisions being released early. The decisions will be out on March 31st.

@IfnousWHO - No precedent AFAIK.

@Anonymoose3 That’s the response I expected as well.

A question. They ended the 2nd choice school this year. However, in CALS you must pick a program too. If you mention interest in another as well, could you be accepted into a different program than you ticked in common app?

I am so freaked out by the fact that I never got an email about the decision release date
