Cornell Class of 2020 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

East coast, last name W, no LL, received email at 11:22 ET.

@mihirt19 How do you know they’re not sending them by region and what do you think it means??? I love in NY and I got mine a few hours ago.

Last name R, Texas, received at 10:51 EST.

Judging from previous comments, the emails have been sent out alphabetically by last name. And most likely, everyone gets it. All it is are instructions to view your decision. Nothing else.

I think it’s alphabetical. However, with mass emails, you usually get some sort of variation with when people receive them, and I don’t think the variation means anything other that a bad server connection somewhere along the way.

Last name A, got the email at 9:46 am Eastern Time.

It’s just an email and there is no need to try to create something out of nothing. No one here can tell you if you are admitted or not. Imagine if you think you got admitted based on some clues or speculations and at the end it turns out to be wrong…

@pianoir I know because I live in Dubai, and one of my friends who lives literally 2-3 miles away from me received the email almost an hour before I did and I’m pretty sure if they did it by location they’d release the email to everyone here at the same time, but they apparently didn’t. Also, I can see from earlier posts that location isn’t the case.

People, the email is a general notification. If you really want to know the decision, then wait for a couple of days ( like me, and I am already expecting a rejection :(( )

And if anyone still wants to speculate, then I believe they sent it in alphabetical order of names, as I am an international applicant, yet, I got it by 9:45 am EST, and my last name starts with A. Someone posted earlier of having received their email at 9:46 AM and also have their last name starting with A, so I guess that settles it.

Got the email at 10:57 am ( east coast) last name S

And if it’s not by last name or location, it may be by your application # (they might have one for each student that we don’t know about) or something like that…I highly doubt that these universities have time to think “Oh these students were admitted. Let’s send this generic email to them early so they’ll know a bit beforehand. And let these other rejected and waitlisted students suffer by sending the email a few hours late. HAH.”

@blazedragon is right. I got mine 9:46 AM EST and my last name starts with A.

(Also I’m an international, so I doubt they do it by location as I was one of the first to receive the email)

Hey prospective Cornelians… Try to relax & chill! The die has already been cast & you’ll know your fate at 5pm Eastern this Thursday (“Ivy Day 2016” 3/31)… Godspeed & best of luck to all! #NeuroticismIsUnhealthy

I’m wondering how some regular decision kids already got accepted according to some posts on Twitter

@pianoir it must be likely letters

wow. 2days… hopefully not a rejection

Wishing good luck to everyone now that we’re getting down to crunch time. I’ve gotten the diversity letter so I’m not as stressed out as everyone else, but I’m still a bit nervous (also because I’m waiting on Dartmouth).

I got the email also. I think we will all eventually get it. NY

I got the email at 7:46 am and I live in SoCal.

you guys…its just an email saying when decisions come out lol. Please don’t cause unneeded stress for other people.
