@hayley636 whoopsie! Sorry!
@awesomesauce55 thank you, yes, we got the letter yesterday. I was just wondering what kind of internships (where, what places) and mission trips or seminars would be the most common ones in this program. It looks wonderful!
@ReminiscingDad Well, I know one current Meinig scholar who has been to Israel for some sort of leadership experience/internship. So I think the location varies depending on the year of the student and which project he is assigned.
If you had SOME financial aid, you can appeal your decision. Give it a shot!
However, if you didn’t at all, then come join the “Was about to be Ivy Leaguer Club” with me
@awesomesauceness and @MohTamer thank you for the information and suggestion. I would like to appeal the decision, we shall see… @MohTamer we can also join “Will be a postgraduate Ivy Leaguer Club”
@mprut0987 Cornell will be need-aware for international applicants starting next year. I believe it is a good move.
Yeah, I hope. That or a waitlisted Ivy accepts me, hopefully.
Thank you though, really needed the positivity!
Will Be A Postgraduate Ivy Leaguer Club" it is (:
I got an email saying that my financial package is ready to view. Where do I check it?
@NParker did you find it?

Can someone explain why I was rejected??
@HS1998Classof2020 That is RIDICULOUS you got rejected! I’m also thinking it was the Asian factor. I’m in a similar position. I asked Cornell to reconsider my financial aid decision, and they said they use financial aid to “increase diversity”.
Did you get accepted anywhere else?
liesa981: You are an international student. Cornell does not promise to meet need for internationals.
HS1998 As an alumni, I think Cornell would have been lucky to have you. I suspect they were playing the yield statistic - they saw you as someone so qualified, they guessed that you were applying to many Ivies and Cornell was your safety and you would not accept if offered. They base this on data analytics from prior years. You have amazing accomplishments and will do well wherever you go. Caltech is top 5 in engineering, closer to the epicenter of technology. they rejected you because they assume you would reject them.
I was given the transfer option for next year, but I was also accepted to Dartmouth regular decision. After being deferred, and then basically being deferred again, I really just dont think Cornell is the place for me. Congratulations to everyone who made it! I know you will love it.
Can you move off the wait list into Gaurentees transfer or just regular admission?
@Islandmg Dartmouth will also provide a quality education. “Love the school that loves you back” Falling in love with Dartmouth should not be difficult.

This is exactly what I think all along. That is the only thing that could explain why my D got into Stanford, Columbia and UPenn but got rejected at Cornell
It is very arrogant to blame the fact that one got rejected by a school on yield gaming, especially when a school has a fairly high yield rate. HS1998 had a strong application and got into Caltech, but Cornell Engineering’s acceptance rate is virtually the same; however, I can understand blaming his rejection on the fact that he is asian.
I had a friend from last year who was accepted into Caltech with similar amazing stats but rejected from Duke, UPenn, Berkeley, and Dartmouth to name a couple. Are you telling me that those schools also play the yield game?
Competitive school admissions are highly competitive and extremely random when the acceptance rates dip into the low to mid 10s.
@IfnousWHO
Yeah I’m really excited! I’m going to visit this next week and I think I’ll really fall in love with it. It might be hard to get use to the cold but, it will be worth it
Cornell is full of brilliant students with phenomenal stats and EC’s. They have to choose somehow as do all the top universities. You never hear of someone getting accepted into every single one. Best of luck to those rejected, you are obviously amazing students and will succeed at another top institution. And of course best to those accepted!!!
