Cornell Class of 2021 Guaranteed Transfer Discussion Thread

@markieff, i saw the same thing but everything I’ve read has suggested it is guarunteed as long as you fulfill the reqs. It’s not guaranteed otherwise.

Thank You @43563468 I certainly do want to do the transfer, I don’t think attending a different university will change my mind. Right now, I’m deciding between NYU, Syracuse, Stony Brook, and University of Rochester. NYU’s financial aid is killing me rn so it might be the others although I really want to stay in the city.

Any news or portal changes?

@idekidc earliest decisions have come out in past years was around april 8, so probably not for a week or so. are you a part of the groupme? it’s a lot more active than this thread

Anyone know what % of sophomores live on campus?

I had the same question as @markieff and @idekidc

  1. was just wondering - what’s the point of this application essay if TO already (pretty much) means that we’ll be accepted… and seems like Human Ecology is the only college that still requires an essay from TO applicants…
Also, how important is the activity list…??

  2. I’m like waiting for the result and started to get anxious… I’m guessing the TO results would come out before regular results…? it says from Apr through Jun, but I hope it’ll be out pretty soon…?? (I did see you said about Apr 8th @43563468 )

Does cornell ever offer GT to waitlisted people?

@KAGANJA123 yes, i was offered one after being waitlisted

@idekidc Awesome, obvi it differs by year but what college?

@KAGANJA123 Human Ecology!

Anyone have an idea when current TO’s will start finding out? I know last year was around April 8th.

@Pugslife do you know how we will be contacted? Probably 2nd week of April? But they did release decisions for freshmen earlier this year, so you never know. I’m just worried cos my midterm report hasn’t been checked off yet

@idekidc it looks as if transfers receive an email from Cornell stating, “Your decision is now available.” I looked on last years transfer thread and not everything needs to be checked off to receive a decision -as long as you submitted everything and admissions haven’t contacted you with missing items, you should be in good shape.

Anyone knows the ratio of regular transfer students to the TO students in acceptances? Or do they have a separate quota for each? Thank you!

Is it pretty much guaranteed if you keep your GPA above the requirement and take the required courses? Did anyone not get accepted after completing the requirements?

For all the 2021 gts, how long was this year wait? Obviously it was a year but how did you feel, how long did it feel? Does Cornell like set up any social media outlets, chats, and so on for GTs? Do you have any GTs at your schools?

@HERCULES_HERCULES, unfortunately, our wait isn’t over yet bc us GT’s still haven’t found out if we’ve been officially accepted. It’s been a long process but obviously manageable.Cornell doesn’t set up outlets etc… however we decided to set up a FB page and a group chat which has kept us going. There are some in the group chat that have GT’s at their current university-not sure if they hang out though.

If my midterm report’s not cleared off tomorrow, do you think it’s okay to contact HumEc directly and ask if they have it? I want my application to be done ASAP especially cos registration for classes in my college happens in two weeks. Sigh

@idekidc From what I read in the groupme chat, a lot of people still dont have everything checked off and apparently they sometimes even release the decisions without checking everything off. But I don’t think it’ll hurt to give them a call to explain your situation.

Do we know when our application is officially under review? Because they still have not checked off my College Report, but I contacted my dean and he said he sent it in weeks ago. So just because that box is not checked is my application not under review?
