did you choose a school that you wouldn’t mind staying at for 4 yrs?
@Luckyjade2024 Yes, just in case the transfer didn’t work out. I chose the school that I would probably be attending regardless (if I was given the TO or not)
That’s what I plan to do…not sure about the TO working out
I haven’t chosen my freshman year school yet, but I’m worried about the COVID-19 situation extending into the fall. What if the school we chose switches to a Pass/Fail system for the Fall 2020 semester?
@applicant7890 I’m sure Cornell will address the situation since I’ve seen that a bunch of schools may be doing that. If not, I think we get an advisor for TO, so you’d be able to work something out if there are changes.
so much uncertainty and the TO adds to it at a time like this. wish they still had fysa
I agree :(( I really hope the TO thing works out and that it doesn’t become more complicated than it has to be
@ aachoo I know it’s Ivy and the best of the best…I don’t want to sound ungrateful. i just feel it’s an unfair to the student as well as the freshman year college. To have to leave after the first year is not an ideal situation. Maybe it takes a certain type of student to “want” this.
@Luckyjade2024 Definitely, transferring isn’t for everyone. I think the only reason I’m going through with it is because I’m someone who likes to experience tons of different things. Transferring is a scary experience, but I think I’ll learn and grow a lot after moving far away from home. Going to a college for 4 years is definitely ideal, I agree.
I agree that it’s not an ideal situation I think it depends on the college acceptances you have/financial aid you got from those colleges, too. Cornell’s departments and advising for the field I’m interested in are better than those of the other schools I got into + that’s why I’m thinking about taking the TO. This option is also less expensive than my other choices. For some students (like me!), Cornell offers a great education at the best price You should do what’s best for you + your situation! I agree that prestige/name shouldn’t be the deciding factor or a factor at all.
- possibly leaving my freshman year classmates and college is honestly the only thing holding me back, but it's nonbinding! If I get accepted + don't want to leave, I don't have to :-)
Those are all great points. I will definitely keep my options open for the TO. I am sure so many would love the opportunity.
I also received good merit at my next choice schools. Not too much aid to make a difference. Now with COVID…my parents self employed and out of work. So actually Cornell would work out to be most expensive.
Hey guys. So i got waitlisted for human ecology and is wondering if human ecology does transfer option or is that only for Cals

Hi!! I just found this thread. I got TO from Dyson for Fall 2021. Can someone add me in the group chat?
I did! I was also waitlisted for this fall 2020. But if I don’t get in off of the waitlist, I do plan on using the transfer option.
