Comming across the 'other' ivies CCB, how r they in giving need-based fin aid to internationals? Are they stingy or generous?

and yeah how abour Dartmouth? Which 1s are more competitive?

I've heard that Cornell gives very little aid. Penn gives almost no aid. Darthmouth and Brown give substantial aid but you need to be exceptionally good. I really don't know about Columbia.

Cornell is need blind and thus the most competitive amongst CCB.
Generosity in awarding Financial Aid(Generosity decreases down the group):
Cornell
Brown
Dartmouth
Columbia

hey abhishiv and lakshya thnx for ur reply. but is cornell need blind for intls?

It's need blind in admission but not in awarding aid.

Cornell has got need-blind admission policy for intels but not a need-blind Fin aid policy. There’s a diff. betw. these two things.

That policy never made sense to me. I have seen cornell accept people and then give them very little aid. Thereby ensuring that they cannot/will not attend. So basically those who can afford to pay full tuition apply for aid and if they get whatever little aid that they do its just a bonus. The policy doesn't really help those requiring financial aid more than 10-15k a year.

yes lakshya it is true that cornell is very stingy about giving aid to international students though they take approx 240 students a yr. moreover the engineering programs in cornell are damn tough to get into.

how about brown and dartmouth? which one is more generous in giving aid and which is less competitive among the two? any idea anyone?

Hey.......both r in the list of ''stinginess''..........so,U can make out bout the competition!!!.........:p..

i met a rkp dude who got a full ride at columbia. i doubt about how many full rides does columbia offer to indians.

Penn gives plenty of aid - to the internationals who are admitted with aid.
Penn has a non need-blind admissions policy for international students, and admit between 40-50 international students with aid each year.

These students then receive need-based aid just like any other financial aid student.

Oh really???I didnt knew that........thats a good thing then.......
