Did any of your guys watch it?

What did you think about Lehman's incorporation of the Star War's sark side theme?

P.S. I cannot wait until I become a jedi in 4 years.

Yah, I was there. I thought the speach was pretty good. However, even though I like star wars, I though it was a little lame in the speach.

The convocation speaker (Wesley Clark) started off good, but once he started polarizing the audience and speaking about his political views I thought it went downhill. It was nice that he mentioned Cornell students can be the leaders of tomorrow, but in a non-partisan setting, he should not have talked about how we need a change in leadership, etc.

I was at the commencement (a relative was graduating), and while I thought the speech had a good message, it was very boring. As soon as I heard "Star Wars," I knew it was not going to be pleasant time. I had been sitting in the stadium since 830am and I was looking forward to a better speech. My main problem is that the president took too long to get to the point.

Wesley Clark was horrible because it was at the wrong place wrong time. Although I agreed with what he had to say, it was an absolutely inappropriate time to say it. I was offended by the fact that Cornell paid him a large sum of money so he could use our graduation as a political soapbox. Knowing the convocation co-chairs, I'm not surprised it turned out to be such an abysmal waste of time and money.

Lehman's speech was goofy and awkward because he forced that Star Wars analogy, but he actually did make some good and important points. When he said Thomas Pinchon (sp?) came in as an Eng Physics major, a whole bunch of us cheered loudly, but it was funnier when we were let down after finding out he switched over to English.
