Cornell Computer Science -- College of Engineering vs College of Arts and Sciences

Hello! Could anyone explain the difference in terms of education, difficulty, and environment for computer science at the two different Cornell Colleges?

Any feedback will be appreciated! Thank you!

My understanding is that the computer science curriculum is the same, but the distribution requirements for each college are different.

Arts and sciences has an array of requirements that can be filled in a number of different ways. It’s pretty broad and allows you to have both a science and liberal arts education. I’m in CAS and I love it because of how much freedom it gives you to sculpt your own path. The CAS requirements can be found here: http://as.cornell.edu/academics/degree-req.cfm

Engineering is much more science and math focused, and essentially tells you what classes you have to take. There is still a liberal arts requirement but I’m pretty sure it can be filled in a number of different ways. If you’re really into math and science (calculus, physics, chemistry) and a structured schedule, then engineering is probably better. The requirements can be found here: <a href=“Undergraduate Requirements for Cornell Engineers”>http://www.engineering.cornell.edu/academics/undergraduate/curriculum/requirements.cfm
