Cornell CURIE Academy vs. Notre Dame Summer Scholars program

Help! I'm not sure if anyone on here has ever been to either of these programs, but I was just accepted to both the CURIE Academy and the Summer Scholars program at Notre Dame. Unfortunately, I can't attend both for financial reasons, so I have to make a choice.

Cornell CURIE Academy

This is from their website: "The CURIE Academy is a one-week summer residential program for high school girls who excel in math and science. Cornell University's world-renowned faculty and graduate students will lead CURIE participants in classes, lab sessions, and project research."

This year's topic is Synthetic Biology and Physical Sciences in Oncology, and some excerpts from the website (again) follow: "Students will then learn to engineer a genetic oscillator in the E. coli bacteria and characterize the protein signal levels in individual cells using time-lapse fluorescent microscopy. Meantime, students will learn to use mathematical models to simulate both the electrical oscillator and the genetic oscillator in order to explain their measurements. Students will also learn to engineer microfabricated devices to mimic the physiologicalenvironment in human gastrointestinal (GI) tracts."

Cost: $1450 for one week

Notre Dame Summer Scholars

This is from their website: "You will be introduced to the operating system environments (Linux), computer programming languages (C++) and scripting languages (Python and shell) that harness some of the world’s most powerful computers. By the end of the week you will be running simulations of hurricanes, molecular proteins, and social networks. In week two we will introduce a broader view of research computing to include 3D visualizations, large distributed data sharing, interactive web development, and mobile device programming."

Cost: $2500 for two weeks

I know these two don't sound that related, but they're both sort of engineering-ey and that's what I'm leaning towards as a rising HS junior. I am Catholic, but not extremely so, which basically means I have no helpful preference when it comes to these two universities (both of which I am fairly confident I'll be applying to).

Any insight from people who have attended either of these programs/ anyone who has any opinions about which might be a better choice would be super appreciated!!

I have never heard about these programs before, so I cannot pass judgement, but often, universities will advertise a program that really only serves to bring them extra money.

1450 for a week and 2500 for two weeks is a bit excessive, considering that COSMOS (4 weeks) = 2675 and on the far end of the spectrum is ROSS, which is 2750 for 8 weeks.
