i am new to this thread and not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere else…but i feel that cornell is sensationalized because of our recent popularity among students…

it is the hottest ivy and has been known for years as the easiest ivy to get into and the hardest to graduate from!

i do feel that even at cornell depression is a taboo despite having adequate facilities. i come from an underprivileged background and psychology was new to me at cornell…i never realized that it SHOULD be considered a disease like diabetes (as someone mentioned on a cornell sun comment).

the best thing cornell can do is encourage health/mental leaves for those who feel that the pressure has gotten to them. while many already do this…for many, parents or other pressures would say that its NOT OK for them to just drop out and that their kid needs to suck it up.

i am currently a student on my 2nd academic leave and can attest that cornell is a very depressing place especially if you’re not from the tri-state area and cant go home on breaks. i never realized how important a support system was until i went off to college.

i’m very “up in the air” as to what the best way to address all of this…but it is important to consider the INDIVIDUAL all the way through.
