I am a 12:24 applicant to ILR and i did NOT utalize the seocondary option.

Wat is my decision?

i don't think i AM going to sleep tonight. too nervous.

does not utilizing the secondary option make a diff? does it show you're less interested or something?

oh and I know asians get killed in the admissions process, but what about south asians, are we considered more as asians or as middle eastern? I heard Middle eastern kids get treated the same as white kids in the admissions process. I'd rather be treated white than asian in the admissions process lol.

the only conclusion that is conclusive is that its random, we couldnt agree on it being or not being anything other than that

:) good luck to all though

azns are azns.

ahh molly
im glad someone understands!
but i have no escape... im a native born east asian (w/ u.s. perm residence). so thankfully i escape the international pool. but really, there's no way to hide my being asian >.<

soutasians (mainly indians) are treated as their own cateogry and it is very challenging particularly in CS and engeneering fields

Indians are just as overrepresented as East Asians are.

Together we fall ;)

Any one wana reply?

nooooooo say it aint so
middle easterns are technically asian, but they're treated white
south asians are practically the same as middle easterns
I mean you can't tell us apart so what's the diff?

FUCI< every overachieving asian out there...and all of the people from ny that keep applying...and LI kids in general.

ill reply again, dont worry about

we didnt conclude anything except it is too difficult to conclude about :)
seriously there was no agreed upon theory, but there were a lot of theories that had errors...

I'm not Indian btw..but still, Asians suck in general. Esp the ones that sit on their a$$ all day, stare at their calculator and need to get laid.

Good thing I'm not an engineering major, or pre med. Maybe the fact I did badly in calculus (C+ lol) will help me rather than screw me. the admissions ppl will be like "omg asian kid who sucks as math...how unique...better get her!"

Haha, I'm sorry, guys. I couldn't help myself.
Good luck with decisions and deciphering this business.

edit: @ molly4190, please just kill yourself right now. If you could do that for us, that would be just fantastic. Mmkay? Thanks.

Woah, someone needs to take the chill pill.

haha I was just joking about the part about asians sucking (I am asian, in case you didn't pick up on it...). But right now I hate the overachievers who applied to cornell and asians especially, because I'm being compared to them. normally I like being south asian...but not right now.

oh and I don't know what CS is. see admissions people...that's how non-asian I am...I can't do math and I don't know what CS is, and some user claimed CS is competitive for south asians.

i kind of feel bad for the asians at my school who don't know that they're not really considered a minority. actually, i feel bad for all jrs at my school. they think joining all the honor societies will save them. tut tut. they need CC, obvs.

hey, we're nearing 1000 posts.

i just can't wait for 5pm tomorrow

Well on that note, CS is Computer Science :)

molly we should spread a rumor that they dnt teach math at cornell...then none of those ppl will apply

I guess I'll add to the mix. I registered just to post here.

I'm a 2:44 , but I don't think I have a chance unless hell freezes over.

1870 SAT (I'm braindead) , 3.7 GPA UW (Really screws up my class rank 'cus a lot of people are ranked higher than me due to the fact that their classes are way easier - 82 our of 600 and something , around the top 12%) , I liked my essays (doesn't mean they will) , I thought my EC's were decent , was one of 16 people in my state to attend the Georgia Governor's Honors Program for Design , ran JV/V Track and XC , I liked my portfolio (once again , doesn't mean they will), thought my interview went pretty good.

Currently taking : AP Calc AB , AP CompSci AB , AP Lang , AP Government , AP Econ. , Engineering and Architecture.

Waitlisted at 2 schools ranked lower than Cornell (GT and Rensselaer). ( I only applied to those 3 schools so needless to say i'm in a world of hurt now , had to frantically find a rolling admissions school to apply to so I would at east get INTO college)

Mixed ( West Indian ) , single parent home with a pretty low income I would say. Maybe they might pity me?

I'm dying on the inside ;).
Any other AAP people out there? Architecture to be specific , I think I saw a couple earlier.
