I'll keep this short. I didn't manage to send my Cornell app (the writing supplement that is) on time; I missed the deadline. However, I noticed that next to Cornell on my common app now there's an "i" in a maroon circle. When I hover over it, it says that my approved submission date is February 28, 2014. Does that mean my deadline just got extended by a month? I find it hard to believe but I can't find any other explanation.

I’m in a similar situation, so I’d like to know too!

I don’t think it was extended by a month. Maybe it automatically switched to the next deadline (which would be March 1st for transfer applicants though), so I would just call the office of admissions. but if you have already received a confirmation, I think you will be fine.

I contacted commonapp and they said the message it’s valid. But I’d suggest to submit it as soon as possible…

I’ll keep this short.

People who can’t manage to prepare and send a simple application on time (that they literally have months for) don’t really belong in an Ivy League.

Yes, Dishonored. Because no 17-year-old ever failed to manage his time well or change his mind (won’t apply) when circumstances change (I can still apply? Maybe I should.). Nor do they ever grow into responsible adults who begin to meet deadlines. Every Ivy Leaguer sprang forth from their parents’ foreheads, fully formed and filled with the wisdom of Athena.

I’ll keep this short. If you don’t have any advice, don’t shame a kid going through an already stressful process.

well, i did not let me submit it on the 2/1/2014 after the date changed from the 28th… guess the common app did not it have the “extension” programmed correctly.

I’m in the same situation as the op, but with Columbia. However, it let me submit and had an approved submission date of March 1st.
