Hey College Confidential friends!
As you can tell from the title, I’m currently weighing my options on choosing an undergraduate business program to attend for the fall of 2016. To provide a bit of background, I live in Austin and love the city, but I’m put off by the idea of attending a college that 1. feels too familiar. 2. is in a city that’s too familiar. and 3. has too many familiar faces. My parents and I compromised so that all the colleges I applied to were either as good as or better than UT.
However, the in-state tuition is too good to write off. I already know I have to take on upwards of $70,000 for NYU Stern, so though I was accepted, that’s currently not a priority for me. I’m struggling between Dyson and BHP. Though I haven’t received my aid info from Cornell, I know it will be expensive also, but Cornell’s reputation as a great school in general is attractive to me. The general consensus also seems to be that Dyson is more recognized and has a better program overall than BHP. After attending Discover BHP and seeing the new opportunities available in an up-and-coming city like Austin, I was wondering if that statement still holds true for all areas of business, or is it a matter of weighing my interests in specific business subjects.
Are there significant differences between opportunities that students of both programs receive?
How would y’all characterize the two programs?
And how has being at Cornell/UT been a distinctive experience in general?
Besides the programs themselves, I’m also very interested in campus life at Cornell vs. UT. I’ve been down to UT a few times this year, and it always excites me how much stuff there is to do. Just the other day I went to Forty Acres fest and saw MisterWives for free! There seems to be something there for everyone.
How is Cornell in regards to student activities both professionally and for fun?
How active are Christian communities on campus?
Finally, if you have any other advice or information to provide that would help me in this decision, please feel free to let me know. I would appreciate all the information I can get in this process of deciding my home for the next four years. Thanks for reading!
