Additionally both my mom (ILR, '84) and my dad (ORIE, '86) graduated from Cornell.

I think I have overall good qualifications for Cornell, but historically they have taken people with absurdly high test scores (average 1560 SAT, 35 ACT) and GPAs (average 4.4 weighted) from my high school. I intend on EDing them, but I’m still not really sure of my chances.

Thanks for the help!

Your ECs are very anemic, and your grades are below average. You do have good test scores though. Your chances overall for ED are not great, and very slim for RD if you are deferred.

look into Vanderbilt. It is a strong school which emphasizes test scores. A 1590 on the SAT and 35 ACT looks good and I think you would get int ED there.

I had actually been looking at Vanderbilt. I’ve been considering EDing Cornell, and then if I don’t get in ED2 Vandy. Cornell really is my top choice though, even if my odds of getting in are lower than I’d like because of grades and sub par ECs. Sadly, I didn’t worry about ECs enough until this year, so I’ve lagged behind a bit there. Do you know how much the double legacy helps my ED odds at Cornell?

Legacy means a lot for cornell applicants, or so I’ve heard, especially if your parents went to cornell for a 4 year undergrad.
