Thanks for the input. Really hoping for a yes on the ED, for obvious reasons but also dreading going through the application process a second round if not…

I’m at Vandy now – for what it’s worth, the quantitative components of your app are approximately the same as mine. We take a lot of people ED, so that should help you out. Engineering is probably the hardest school to get into, but being female might increase your desirability to the college; engineering is pretty heavily male here (~70%). If your essay is compelling and tells a story only you could write, you have a decent shot (but obviously with these sorts of schools you certainly can’t bank on getting in, no matter what your figures are). Can’t speak for MIT, but I don’t think you should have a problem with Georgia Tech or Miami.

By the way, if you do get waitlisted at Vanderbilt, it’s not over. We take loads of people off our waiting list, unlike some universities where the waiting list is basically a diplomatic way of handing out soft rejections. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear that about the waiting list. Will Vandy waitlist an ED applicant? I read somewhere that they don’t because the point of ED is to know early whether you’re accepted or denied, although that may have been talking about deferral and not waitlist now that I think about it
