Cornell ED Class of 2021 Discussion Thread

Wrong.

@ClarinetDad16

Hello, how are you all? My apologies about that technical mistake. Thank you for the correction!

@weli58

Sure. You can check out my reply here (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/19520999#Comment_19520999).

I could go on for pages about my experiences here as a premed. If you (or anyone else) have specific questions, please feel free to ask!

@ClarinetDad16

Hello, how are you?

I realized that there wasn’t a mistake in what I said, as I WASN’T referring to wasn’t the Early Decision acceptance rate, but the total number of people accepted to both early decision and regular decision, which totals above 4,336.

I was calculating the number of those accepted by early decision divided by those who were accepted overall. Thus, my numbers weren’t wrong. I believe you misunderstood what I meant in the first place, as I wasn’t looking for those accepted by the early decision, but the yield percentage of the total number of applicants accepted, of which were early decision. The statistics were referring to this year’s class total acceptance admission cycle.

Thank you for your time!

@jfx246

Hello, how are you?

Thank you for sharing your experience at Cornell University’s CALS, as that will definitely help out others who are interested in applying to CALS and/or interested in doing the pre-med track. Those who are interested in doing CALS should be taking note of this and asking questions to @jfx246, as he can provide further valuable information on this topic.

Thank you for your time!

@weli58 You are just so polite.

Hi, I’m planning on applying early decision to CALS to study Applied Economics and Management (AEM), how selective would you say the program is?

Thanks!

@CanIntoIvy

For Fall 2015 AEM was 7%.

@HRSMom, thanks for the speedy reply! That’s extraordinarily selective…

It is, maybe ED is a bit higher? They just give one number overall tho.

@weli58: here is what you posted

As far as the statistics go, over 4,336 applicants (from this year’s admission cycle) whom were guaranteed admission to Cornell University; with 45-50% being from Early Decision, and the remaining half being Regular Decision.

But 45-50% of 4336 isn’t 1200-1300. Your numbers are not correct

@QueenOfBohemia

Hello, how are you?

Thank you so much; I try my best to be polite!

Also, are you planning on applying to Cornell University via Early Decision? If so, what undergraduate college and major do you plan on applying to?

Thank you for your time!

@CanIntoIvy

Hello, how are you?

That is wonderful that you are interested in the CALS Applied Economics and Management (AEM) program.

@HRSMom , excellently provided an answer to your question! The program is very selective, due to it being a more recent program, and thus it will continue to grow. This means that it will attract more applicants, yet the spots available for admission will be small. The statistics show a seven percent acceptance rate, however, if you consider the other variables, the acceptance rate would be around nine to ten percent. The early decision route should increase the acceptance rate exponentially.

To provide further information, here is the link to the official website for Cornell University’s CALS AEM Program:

You can direct to the top-left and click on the “Admissions” tab; here is the link for the admissions section:

I would pay attention to the second paragraph under “Are You a Good Candidate?” which it will tell you the five key factors to look for, that will help you with the admissions cycle. This is important, as if you follow the five key factors, then it will give you a distinct advantage in the admissions cycle. Thus, please focus your energy on assuring that you meet those five key factors.

Hello, how are you?

My apologies for the mistake regarding the percentage of Early Decision admits, as I didn’t concur that. Although the other information regarding the admission cycle was accurate.

Also, thank you for taking the time to provide your input on the discussion, as all is helpful!

@weli58 Thank you! I do plan on applying to Cornell ED if I do not get chosen to be a Questbridge Finalist. I want to apply to CAS Psychology.

Hey guys! At the moment, I am planning on applying to Cornell ED for CoE!

Hey guys, do you think there’s more chance of getting accepted if you apply
ED instead of RD?
