@go2college1234 Three of my friends who got in last year had low test scores (28, 27, 1100). The ACT scores were accepted to ILR and the SAT was accepted to HE.
Eek. I (CAS) have a low-ish (3.7) GPA but a high-ish (1540) SAT. Seems like everyone is in the opposite boat.
@elpollodiablo what if my essays and recs are extremely strong but my ECs are a bit generic? I have a lot of ECs but I never climbed Mt. Everest or started a company or cured cancer etc, like theyre not entirely focused ECs
@saintlaurentdon If you applied to a contract school, itās all about fit and what you bring to cornell/what cornell can bring to you. For the other schools like CAS and CoE, stats are very important.
like i think for dyson essays r a big part of the applications ā¦
By focused I didnāt mean they have to be of the same area, but rather that you āstuck to itā instead of picking stuff up and throwing them away soon. Also, there arenāt ECs that are generic ā they are generic only if you demonstrate no interest/passion (except maybe for Asians playing the piano).
My ECs arenāt insane either theyāre all music-related and Iām going into bio lmaoooo
honestly this wont make or break our futureā¦ good luck to everyone
@elpollodiablo Iāve done a lot of ECs for two years, like junior/senior year because I didnāt have as much freedom as a freshman/junior, do you think thatās alright?
I have a 4.0 UW out of 4 and a 32. My reading score sucks so it dragged my overall composite down. But hopefully since I applied to CALS, they didnāt not consider bc of a 28 in reading.
*freshman/sophomore I mean
Good luck to everyone.
I was so anxious this weekend that I couldnāt do anything!
Anyway, 19hr to go!!
Should be. Was in similar boat. Didnāt do much for Fresh/Soph. but Junior and Senior I was quite active.
my ECs are pretty diverse but a lot of them are unusual and I jumped around sports a lot which is bad cause it shows I didnāt commit
My ECās are on my chance me if you are interested @saintlaurentdon
You committed to sports. Youāre not an olympian, so you donāt have to become a master in one. It serves you better if you demonstrate you are a multifaceted person able to take on many things.
My recs didnāt go through in november and cornell never notified me. When I noticed one of my other colleges didnāt receive them, I called them up and I found out December 1st. My teacher immediately emailed it in and cornell got it (I called and checked). How screwed am I?
@elpollodiablo yo thanks for making me feel better lol I really canāt do anything at this point even if my ECs are trash, so why not be confident right
@xfewds Link? idk how to get there
They got it, you should not be screwed by that. I think theyād have notified you if your application was being processed (that was what happened with people missing stuff in my HS, at least).
