Cornell ED Class of 2022 Discussion Thread

Hey guys, I was just wondering approx how many days did it take to get your application ID email…I submitted on Saturday (Oct 28)

I submitted my app on the 15th and got my ID on the 20th.

@LvMyKids2 Admit I don’t know much about Dyson. Clicking on Dyson though it seems to say 4366 Applications 128 Acceptances and 93 Entering (for Fall 2017)? Hmm, not sure why you are seeing a different number. Because 128/4366 = .0293 acceptances, and Wikipedia says they have a 3% admission rate - so, that seems right? “With an acceptance rate of 3%, The Dyson School is the most selective program in the Cornell University system.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_H._Dyson_School_of_Applied_Economics_and_Management

@MDSparkle thanks for replying. But I thought I read Dyson was a 12% admit rate somewhere. I am getting confused because they have the SC johnson school of business but then Dyson has hotel too. If my child wants to do the Applied Ecomonics and Management (AEM) is that stricly the Dyson statistic of 3 %? or is that in CALS…?

@MDSparkle so Dyson is harder than Wharton? that doesn’t seem right? Very strange

@LvMyKids2 Dyson last year evidently was the hardest business school to get into? Although this says 7% still harder than Wharton 9%? Not sure. https://poetsandquantsforundergrads.com/2016/12/07/acceptance-rates-top-50-business-schools/ The undergrad admissions office might be able to explain the stats best, know there were some changes.

@MDSparkle again, thank you. But Cornell Dyson says 3% …something just is strange given that Wharton seems like it is harder and more prestigious. Anyhow, thank you…I am just researching and reading all these things now. :slight_smile:

@MDSparkle i meant 3% from a few posts above (the 128/4366 that you posted). :slight_smile:

@LvMyKids2 again, don’t know why some places say 3% others say 7% for Dyson. But from Google does seem they are indeed harder to get into than Wharton. Maybe mostly because it is such a small program. Don’t know how the business school merger will affect stats going forward. https://www.ft.com/content/9a2f9c2e-c3bf-11e6-81c2-f57d90f6741a

Just submitted my app. to the hotel school!

Submitted app yesterday for architecture, chances are low but got to always keep hope

@rugby1562 what were your stats? how many pieces in ur portfolio?

@susie0102 There was 18 piece in portfolio. Some architecture drafts like floor plans and elevations, some free hand and perspective drawings, and some pictures. Stats are very low for cornell with 31 act and 3.86 W, hoping my ecs help with 3 summer programs and an internship.

any more people for AAP?

any humec applicants??

@skidoc9772 here from cali

@skidoc9772 I’m applying to HumEc as well

Dysons acceptance rate dropped from 7% for fall 2016 to 3% fall 2017. It is harder to get into than Wharton. It’s very selective and class sizes purposely very small. It’s very fit based which further drives acceptance rates diem. It’s reputation is also growing each year, and is widely considered one of the undergraduate business programs in the world.

@skidoc9772 applying to humec too

i’m super nervous. what are your stats, fellow humec applicants?
