Cornell ED Class of 2025 Discussion Thread

Just go to the Cornell reddit page. You cannot miss it and there’s nothing in there of substance other than a discord link to use if you get admitted.

I asked this before but noticed on reddit it sounded like some people implied their page was blank. I’m going to ask here again. Does anyone not have this dead center on their applicant portal when they log in?

“Important Note for All Applicants
Cornell University requires official documentation as part of the application process. For students who are admitted and enroll, the Undergraduate Admissions Office verifies the authenticity of information submitted as part of the application process for a random sampling of entering students.”

Then on the right is the supplemental info and the verify address info. I’m curious to know if anyone has different info on that page.

Mine is exactly like yours.

I don’t have it blank. What does this mean?

if you are selected, what type of documentation do they ask for? I don’t think I have concrete documentation for a good third of my extracurriculars.

yeh its their, it isn’t blank.

it is present in bold letters.

No idea. Could be kids who say they won honors etc and they want proof of that. Cornell is huge on academic integrity, even though cheating during remote has been a big problem, they care a lot about AI. So maybe they’re suspect of kids lying about their credentials. When someone is desperate there is a lot they will do.

When my daughter was accepted they sent an email link to see the decision and that opened to an acceptance or rejection. This is different so no idea.

As far as the submission link, I assume that’s only for anyone who is ultimately deferred to later submit materials to help. If anyone has a different screen than us, who the heck knows what that means?

we are not looking at her portal til 7pm. However, I distinctly remember that blurb about official documentation used to be at the very bottom of the page under the checklist.

Go to the A2C subreddit and look up Cornell in the subreddit. If you sort by new there are hundreds of posts. You can also find the megathread. People are constantly posting there now.

mine is exactly like yours too. Reddit is making me insane.

Question if anyone knows, my aid decision still says “pending as of 11/21” - hate reading into anything at this point but curious if anyone else has something similar?

Well, don’t be discouraged! The great thing about Cornell is they are more holistic than any other Ivy. For example, they will take White and Asian students with test scores far below their own average, at times, because Cornell looks for ‘fit’, in every sense of the word. And they mean it. ‘Fit’ is not just a glib term for them. They want students who love Cornell and who will succeed being Cornellians. They do not want just another great student who picked them for their name. They sniff those students out and reject them. Trust me, this is 100% true! And if you don’t get in and are deferred, RD is very near!

**The great thing about all you ED applicants is Cornell knows how much you like them now, which will be a great benefit in the RD round for those who get deferred!!!

Haha and that is why I am not a Cornell or any other Ivy alum. I would be the one who misses all of that. So basically they did just remove the checklist? Duh.

@bbms4444 Ah yes all the A2C posts, tons of internationals who use that and follow their practices. Like the one school where the entire senior class applied ED to Cornell! It’s a class of only 25 kids and turns out all in India.

I also feel real bad for New Yorkers and surrounding areas. I have heard there are like 10-20 kids at many New York schools applying. These numbers are way up from previous years. Not sure how that affected their overall decisions or not. We live in the midwest so it’s likely there are fewer midwest and west coast applicants than in the past due to distance and cost, but who the heck knows and maybe that’s not a good thing. 4 more hours and we can all move on one way or the other.

We are in the same boat as you all. It has been hard to read the tea leaves regarding number of OOS applicants and applicants to the various colleges within Cornell.
Just waiting to see. We are from Texas and have twins. One was accepted ED to Tulane several weeks ago. Given the numbers, we are expecting a rejection or deferral and a long spring for the second twin, which is doubly hard since the first twin is already making friends on social media with her fellow Class of 2025 Tulane classmates. Good luck everyone. Before we check results I am going to remind my daughter this is a game of lotto and no matter what teen attitudes or insecurities rear their heads later today, no one is any more or any less than anyone else on account of a somewhat arbitrary decision.

I have identical twins and I know what that is like. 2 years ago, my 1 got into UT very unexpectedly early, before Cornell decisions came out. That weekend was torture. It worked out for mine but the whole application process for twins and families of twins is really stressful. I fully expected this year would be a lot easier, and then covid. I can’t imagine twins plus covid so just remember they will find their place and it will all work out!

More impressive news from Cornell. So excited for my CS daughter but bummed she probably won’t get to experience the fruits of this donation assuming they won’t be able to hire more staff by then and not sure if a new building is going up but so exciting for Cornell and will make their Top 5 CS program even stronger!!
