Hi, does anyone have any information on International Student’s Financial Aid? I was accepted but there is no information on my CSS profile regarding any updates, neither did I receive any IDOC request from Cornell.

Any indian accepted?

If we were deferred and want to send a letter of continued interest, would we send this to the email of the admissions comittee?

I was deferred yesterday but still know that Cornell is my dream school. I am willing to do anything It takes to attend. Any advice is appreciated.

To give some context:

I think I was VERY borderline. I have a 1580 on the sat and a 95.4 unweighted GPA (equivalent to 4.0) along with an 800 and 770 on subject tests and strong extra curriculars as well as great essays. My only weakness was the fact that there was a noticeable dip in my grades from 10th grade to 11th grade, going from a 97.9 to a 92.8. I did explain this in an additional info essay though as I had significant family struggles going on within the home which caused this drop in grades.

I go to a top public high school in Westchester county, New York. Four girls(I am male) who were similar to me strength wise were accepted early from my school to Cornell while my self and one other person were deferred.

If there is a perfect time to do certain things or a sweetspot for when to send Letters of continued interest along with any other materials, please do tell!

If there is any advice that anybody has for me on top of obviously writing a letter of continued interest then it would be greatly appreciated!

@srparent15 I know you are knowledgeable so if you have any advice please do share

My daughter got accepted at the College of Human Ecology. This was totally unexpected because she didn’t have that many extra-curricular activities or awards. She has a 99.9 GPA, a 1550 SAT, 5 AP classes, and is ranked 1 in her tiny rural school in New York State. It probably helped that she applied to CHE which was test-optional, but still considered her SAT scores, rather than apply to CALS which didn’t consider the scores. We are so excited!

Wait at least until January to send your LOCI. Hopefully you had strong first semester grades which will show you bounced back from junior year that you can send. That may be why you were deferred. If you have any awards or activities that happened after you submitted your ED application, include that information too.

If you haven’t sent out RD applications yet, you may want to rethink talking about your family struggles and have your guidance counselor address it instead. Sometimes that comes across better from the GC than the student directly. If they are already out, what’s done is done and don’t sweat it.

Good luck!

Can anyone help me with where to send the letter of continue intent to and also if I acquire another outside letter of rec where could this be submitted at?

I’ m applying rd with no test score into one of the sunys at Cornell, I think it is a better idea to apply to cals since they are not taking scores into consideration.

Did anyone get deferred from CALs?

SAT 1540
GPA: A average (school does not weigh nor rank)
Mostly Honors courses junior and senior year; very high level math and sciences
Internship in the food industry
Great LoRs from 2 teachers
Essays were personal as he is interested in food/hospitality in ways that are different than most and really expressed why he wanted to be at SHA and what he hopes to do one day

We are in the same boat as you. Have been told to send a LOCI now and then another one in January when my son gets his grades which would be another point of contact and then if anything else comes up between now and April as well.

If it’s your top choice, just keep working at it and good luck!

Anyone want to make another thread for deferred ED applicants?
