I saw my neighbor’s daughter earlier. She got in ED to Cornell ILR.
GPA of 3.4
No APs
She did not do the SAT or ACT (she has a pre-existing health condition - was nervous to do the exams due to COVID)
We live in New York (not sure if that makes a difference)

Good luck to all.

denied from SHA :frowning:

Were most people from CoE rejected or deferred? Curious to know

According to poll results, most were defered rather than rejected. Lol, I was rejected

@ daphneheslop–Is your neighbor girl URM? Is it amazing for her to get in with the GPA and no test scores. Congrats.

Her essays must have been proofread by MLK Jr. himself.

@JL666666 - YES - I am happy for her.

Can anyone please provide their stats for college of human ecology ? Thank you in advance.

We were deferred to Dyson- so bummed but would love to know how many people got deferred to Dyson? It has to be a very small number right? If I assume that the estimated class size is 160± with a 50% ED admittance rate- then 80 students were admitted on the 17th. My daughter really loves Cornell but with these odds it is quite discouraging in spite of her excellent scores and over the top leadership. I am sure there are plenty of other qualified applicants who share sentiment. Wish that they were not score free - we submitted - feel
like not looking at her score hurt her chances. Seems unfair - we had to go out of state to take the test - sleep over - crazy but we did what we had to do. But i also understand the flip side and just think that they should at least look at scores of those who worked so hard to test.

I would also like to add - that while I don not know every item in this young lady’s application - I know that she has volunteered extensively (the last 4-5 years) at a local farm that helps a lot of people in our locale. The farm does sell to restaurants, etc. but also have days and times when they give fruits, vegetables, other food items free of cost to those who cannot afford it. They have helped to feed a lot of people over the years.

Good luck to all.

Question: My 1st quarter senior GPA was about 0.5 higher than my cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale (not sure exactly because my school does it out of 100). How safe is it to assume that they just want to see that my 1st semester wasn’t a fluke, and would probably accept me if I kept my grades up? Or am I reading too much into my deferral, and I should grind more ECs to try and send the best LOCI possible?

You’re overthinking and reading too much into it.

My daughter was accepted Into CHE for the Human BIology major - her stats are listed in an earlier post. The only thing I want to add is that she wrote two great essays, which I just read last night. Her essays really expounded her love for biology and why she decided on Human Biology as her major.

HELP!!!

Hi again everybody, currently writing my supplement for the college of Human Ecology.
(I know it is a bit late but did other schools first!) Intended major is Human Development on a pre-law track. I wanted to bring in some networking opportunities I might encounter at Cornell in my essay. There are a few listed on the College of Arts and Sciences website such as the " A&S Career Conversations and Career Connections". Before I write them in, I wanted to make sure that these types of programs are open to all Cornell students, not just limited to a specific college. Does anyone know anything about this?

Thank you in advance.

Go to the college board website to submit your CSS profile, see the IDOC request from school and submit your document

congrats! being from a rural area of NYS for a NYS school also helps. your daughter sounds awesome and hope she has a phenomenal experience!

I was also deferred :frowning:

Got in! CALS Haven’t checked may be accepted two weeks ago.
I am in trouble now cause I think Cornell is a reach and gear everything to UT Austin…
SAT 1520, 3.94UW GPA, 13 APs, 760 SAT Bio
Insignificant EC cause I have to work for family small business since 9th grade

? If you got in it was ED and that is binding so how then is Cornell a reach?

Also, the decisions came out on 12/17 and you would’ve received your letter in the regular mail by now too, so your post is really confusing.

If you’re talking about being admitted to UT but you also applied RD to Cornell, UT just had a wave a couple days ago so maybe that’s what is happening but again you’re post doesn’t make sense or maybe it’s just me.
