Cornell ED vs. Georgetown EA

I am really stuck trying to decide what to do between Cornell Early Decision and Georgetown Early Action. I would definitely want to apply to either one of the schools early, but I must decide, as Georgetown has restrictive early action. I love both schools pretty much equally, and they are very different, so they are hard to compare. I would like to major in economics if that helps. Any input/feedback is appreciated!!

Can someone PLEASE help me out?

In keeping with this principle, students applying under the Early Action program may not apply at the same time to binding Early Decision programs since they then would not be free to choose Georgetown if admitted. Students are welcome to apply to other Early Action programs or other Regular Decision programs while at the same time applying to Georgetown’s Early Action program.

Can you love UVA? Its great for Econ and you can apply there and Georgetown EA, which gives you greater chances of being accepted somewhere?

well it depends… what are you going to major in? i personally would LOOOVEE to go to georgetown just because it’s in washington DC and everything about georgetown is amazing.

why don’t you just apply regular to both? i know it would probably be more agonizing to wait, but you’ll see which one you get into!

The reason you are not getting any reply is because you are telling people what you are looking for. They are 2 very different schools, why you would like both of them is beyond me. My daughter went to Cornell, she loved her experience. Her 3 best friends from high school went to, also loved their experience. My daughter and 2 of those friends are working in IB now, but my daughter would say she didn’t care for Georgetown’s social scene, based on few visits she made to Georgetown.

If Cornell is not your dream school, don’t apply ED. Give yourself until late April do decide.

Thanks everyone!
@mhmm - I tried to convince my parents to let me look at UVA, but they refuse to believe that it is actually a very good school. They think it is just one of those “state schools” and are unwilling to do any research about it/let me visit :(

@redscarlett/vonlost - The reason is that both of these schools are “reach” schools for me. The Cornell acceptance rate for ED is much higher than its acceptance rate for regular, but the Georgetown acceptance rate for EA is the same as regular. I would like to reduce my chaces from getting rejected from both.

@oldfort - I am not very picky when it comes to colleges! Sure, I love some more than others, but virtually every school I have visited has appealed to me. I know they are very different, but I don’t think it is fair for you to say that there is no reason for me to like them both. This probably explains why I am applying to 15 colleges…
