Undergraduate Major: Engineering (electrical and mechanical)
Been on campus and at the meetings (so I have my name on the list).
Alumni think I have a chance, but I'm looking for outside opinions.

there is NO WAY u are getting into one of the best engineering schools in the country, especially at an ivy league with a math SAT II of a 600...even if u were a girl..i would say even if u were a girl

your gpa is great but because of your sat and sat ii scores... it will be a far reach.. why don't you retake some sat ii's and go for regular decision?

Being a legacy for Cornell may help though. I don't know how much weight they put into legacies but I read about it all the time. Yea, your test scores suck. Sorry. And you have a long list of EC's. Remember that quality is always better than quantity. If you have really interesting stories to tell about some of the things you listed, that will help you admissions a lot.

because when I went to the cornell campus tour for their school of engineering, they specified that ED aceptance rate is 50% (no I didn't miss understand the woman, it was really 5-0%). Also, I'm legacy. They said they're looking for students particularly interested and have goals. They said the transcript is just the basic, but who you are is the key. This thread would be inconveniently long if I were to explain everything in detail. That's why I'm going early decision. It's not like it's the ONLY school I'm applying to. And retaking SAT2s is extremely bad for the transcript (quoting admissions officers and alumni). SAT1 is okay though, but to a point. I also figured that I'm taking the most rigourous courses in my school (except AP English; not AP french because they couldn't fit it into my schedule last year, but the teacher is thinking about allowing me to take the AP exam). And these aren't just lists of EC and courses and what not. I left out all of the little details to shorten the thread (no one would read everything otherwise, i guaruntee it).
