Cornell engineering math diagnostic

I saw that I have to take a math diagnostic exam in preparation for my math placement. It says this test will not determine my placement… just assess my readiness for a math course.

I got a 4 on AP Calc BC. I don’t plan on using this credit to be exempted from math 1910 (because I deferred my admission for a year so don’t feel completely confident in the math I learned over a year ago). Can I/should I use this ap score to be exempt from taking the diagnostic test without using it for the exemption from the class?

The math diagnostic tests Calculus I knowledge; MATH 1910 is Calculus II, and AP Calculus BC ends at approximately the same point as MATH 1910, or at least it did a few years ago.

Assuming things are the same as they were three years ago, you have to take the math diagnostic as an entering freshman to prove readiness for MATH 1910, but you are never required to use advanced credit or take a placement test to start at MATH 1920 or higher. I’d look over the website again if I were you to confirm that what I’m saying is still true.
