If they're asking someone for more financial aid papers than usual does that mean that the person was accepted?

No, I got asked for more financial aid papers about 6 weeks ago. I highly doubt they had a decision made at that time. I don’t think they’re asking you for more “than usual.” They’re probably asking you for required forms you forgot to submit or were unaware you had to submit (parent tax forms, student non-filer statement, CSS Profile, etc.)
The Office of Financial Aid is TOTALLY separate from the Admissions Office, particularly at need-blind institutions like Cornell. Therefore, the Financial Aid people have no clue if you’ve been admitted, just as the admission committees have no idea how much aid you need.

Good luck. :)

I already did all my required items. Recently, They asked me for verification papers and to return them by April 30.

Also, I was already accepted into Rutgers when they asked for those papers from me.

But yeah, you could be right as well.

Thanks

even though financial aid is separate from admissions, i think that the financial aid office must already have the list of admitted applicants. if you’re getting asked this late, there may be a high probability that you’re in…i’m just sayin… GOOD LUCK!!

I called them to make sure they got some certain documents that I had sent the week prior and managed to ask them about the verification papers (It popped up in my checklist as well). They told me that the FAFSA just do a random selection, so, like Jerseygirl said, it has nothing to do with Admissions.

ok good points guys. but if the person didnt get accepted why would they bother asking for more papers?

I think it’s just protocol.
