Cornell for Bioengineering

Hey! I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions or comments because right now I'm deciding between UCSD Regents and Cornell for Bioengineering. I know that UCSD can offer me research opportunities starting my first year and I have a good networking base in San Diego (where I'm from) so job-wise I'd be set too. Cost is not a factor, so I'm leaning toward Cornell because it's really prestigious in general and would provide a great change in scenery. Not sure how to go about my decision, so any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

It really depends on you career goals. If you want to pursue an academic/research (all the way to PhD level) or medical career, UCSD is at least as good an option as Cornell. If you are interested in finance or consulting, then an Ivy degree is always handy.

wallrus75 and PCHope, thank you for your responses!
hmm… I want to earn at least a Masters (may consider a PhD), but I will not be going to medical school. Also thinking about doing the Cornell minor in Business for Engineering students.
In terms of the job market, are either of you familiar with the availability and presence of bio-engineering and bio-tech related job opportunities beyond the Cornell campus? However, I will most likely come back to SD to work after my studies. Even so, I do agree that an Ivy degree will help me out wherever I do decide to work.

wallrus75: Congrats on your acceptances! What major are you going into?
Hahaha, I absolutely LOVE food, so HOORAY! You sound quite knowledgeable about Cornell’s campus! Could you tell me more because I haven’t had the chance to visit and I’m not sure if I will be able to. Have you visited or do you live near that area?
And definitely, the fact that Cornell has varied engineering options, is an overall top engineering school, and is an ivy league really attracts me too…
Thanks so much for all your info!
