Hello guys I just made a College Confidential account and I have a question.
I’m going to be a senior this fall and I want to get into Cornell via the HEOP program. My family is pretty financially disabled so I qualify in that aspect but onto the academic aspect. Do you guys think an 1800 SAT score is good enough to get in or should I need raise it to say at least a 1900? Also I can’t seem to find a deadline for the HEOP application. Does anyone know the date?
On to my last question(sorry for the barrage of questions). For HEOP do I still need to take two SAT II subject tests or not because for regular admission you’re required to take two subject tests. If so I would just take Physics and Math but I don’t know whether Math 2 looks better for Cornell or not. The do say it can be either so I don’t know. Anyway thank you for your time, hope I get the answers I need
I’m a parent and don’t know the specifics of the program, but like looking things up, and I can’t find the answers to any of your questions. You’ll have to ask the school:
They have to be more forgiving of test scores, that is the whole concept of HEOP, to admit students who otherwise would not be admitted to said University. We had a student admitted under this program this year with SAT CR + M score of less than 1200. However he is a URM, did a lot with Cornell Cooperative Extention & their dairy program through high school, & had someone inside the Ag school backing & advising him.
After some research I was curious how one would join the Cornell Cooperative Extension? I know it may be too late but I can’t seem to find much information on it.
I’m in the program here with an 1890/1250. I submitted my US and World History scores (680 on both). Ideally I should’ve submitted math/science scores being a STEM major, but just do the best you can (obviously). I’m in Arts and Sciences, but I heard CALS doesn’t require them.
I got a pretty high sat score (2100, not high in general lol) for heop, but a low gpa, around 3.5 ish. My family income is pretty low, around 15,000. Do you think I can get in?
I went from the second to last week in June until the first-ish week of August. My income is in a similar ballpark. The general trend I noticed in other people who did PSP (it also has non-HEOP kids) is a higher GPA and lower SAT score. I wouldn’t discourage you from applying, but also remember to not set your heart on anything.
